I mean the lady who was all but swinging on the handles and seeming to have a wonderful time doing it. She came into the station, train moving, twirling around several times. Then, as the door opened she plopped down. There was another guest in a wheelchair, one who was completely immobile, so I put that person's ramp down first. The family put the other ramp down themselves (backward), and I was able to get to them just before they got the person onto the ramp so I could turn it around. They asked why I didn't take care of them, I didn't care to open the can of worms that she didn't seem like she needed it when she was twirling around the pole. I guess I am just strange that way.

Please note, that last bit of snarkiness was directed at the family that yelled at me for helping someone else first, not anyone here.

Hey BW, it's all cool. Sounds like these people were idiots and I don't know how CM's keep their cool as much as they do. You rock.

I hate to see VIP cleaning mentioned anywhere online because I know people will try to take advantage of it. But as someone with serious mold and dust mite allergy and asthma in addition to all my other disabling problems, believe me when I tell you that getting a new shower curtain in a hotel room and a clean comforter (which they do not normally change in between guests only just so often, which totally freaks me out anyway) can and does make the difference between my spending my time out in the parks in the morning or spending it married to my nebulizer. We have tested this out having it done on some trips then not others till I realized it was really making that big a difference.

Also I spend much more time in my room- and in the bed specifically- than your average guest because of needing naps, frequently being too tired even in a wheelchair to manage the parks more than a day or two in a row... believe me, if they started charging a flat fee to do it before you come in, I will GLADLY pay for it!!!

Now as for the sunlight thing, that sounds like a crock to me LOL. Get one of those special lamps to take with you if you have SAD, but it's the sunshine state, for crying out loud. Sounds to me like they were trying to get a free view upgrade!

To answer (kind of) your question, Grumpy, I've never noticed anybody having a problem with my personal ECV. I do notice that they tend to ask me to leave my key in it more frequently than when I rented one of theirs. I have to ask them to please remove the key after they move it, so I can save the battery. I just ordered a new, heavy duty battery, so hopefully that will keep a charge longer than the one I have now.

Yeah, between the barometric pressure falling, and a general flare, I might not be transferring much, either.
There is no time limit on when you answer!! hehe no worries.

I figured they might have problems with different types/models etc. as Shorty posted. But it sounds like it is an easy thing to take care of with the CM's there.

That's when a surreptitious cell phone picture makes great evidence!

I actually feel kinda guilty when I need a wheelchair. I can make it through 2 days at DW before my lumbar spine gives out. I have 4 herniated disks and some spinal damage. I try to be as independent as I can, but my poor spine can only take so much.

When I do use a wheelchair, I notice the bad looks other patrons give me. I'm a 300 lb girl. I think all they think is that I'm too lazy to use one, and can't see that my legs are Jell-O.

Who cares WHAT they think, just use it and enjoy the parks!!

I know that if something happened to DW or myself, I would not hesitate to use one for another great vacation!

Oh that evil barometric pressure. That does a number on me. I have arthritis in my fingers and hands and knees and it is starting to pop up in other joints as well. Aging sucks! I HATE Denver with its "don't like the weather, wait a minute" changes. I hurt a lot in the mornings when I get up. Especially Winter. It SUCKS and blows at the same time. ;) Gotta get away from evil Denver with it's weather that is slowly driving me to take too many pills. Though I am completely off the morphine, finally! YAY! That was a BIG deal for me, getting off that crap!

My back still hurts if I don't wear my brace half the day. The new disk is working and my back feels much better , but like the doc said, I won't be 100% pain free ever again. :( But the surgery changed my life to where I can actually move around more, not all day, but more and I don't have that excruciating 24/7 pain that made me cry all night.

As far as leaving my ECV key, never have done it. The rental company tells you do NOT leave your key in the machine. There is a release switch that the CMs use to move it. I would not leave the key, too much room for someone to take off with the thing. I keep the key with me, they even put it on one of those stretchy, spiral vinyl bands, so you can put it on your wrist and it won't get lost!

I hear you, Bru, last trip I spent the first week in bed lying down, cause it hurt too much to get up. So clean linens are important for that. And having allergies to dust and mold and not cleaned bedspreads would definitely make a person ill. I like to spend time at a resort, just cause it is so nice to wake up in a hotel room and not have to get up and do anything really. I like traveling and staying in hotels and I like when a hotel keeps the place really clean.

We stayed in a dive kitchenette motel at Santa Cruz, that we will never go back to, and there was no excuse for the filthiness of the sinks and bathroom, since it was off season. The sink was full of rust that rubbed off, not stains. it was horrible. One night and we got out. But we also stayed one time in Santa Cruz in a lower priced motel that was spotless and a very nice young man named Michael that took care of things, since we were there in the midst of off season (Halloween night actually!) and needed some guidance as to what would be open food wise, (not much at the boardwalk!) But it was clean and comfortable and we will stay there again. We always make a stop at Santa Cruz every trip to California. I get to walk on the beach for a bit this next time, I won't have to be on my wheels the whole trip! YAY! Gad, I miss the ocean!

But Disney is top of the line when it comes to cleanliness of rooms, I tell you, having stayed in many hotels and motels.

I wrecked a knee snow skiing years ago. It's so bad I get the weather reports AND the Dow Jones Averages.

LOL at hobie! :hysteria: Ralphie would love it if he could get the Dow on his bad joints. Then he would not have to go online or watch the business news...hehehehe

That could be it, although I do give them permission and even tell them to sit in the seat as it is easier to manuever that way. Walking it is difficult. I do not want the free wheel levers messed with as they are very difficult for me to operate and put the chair back in normal mode.
