Okay, I actually laughed out loud at that one. I may be the noob opening a can of worms here, (because god knows you can't say anything like this one some of the other boards without getting stomped like a narc at a biker rally) but I really hate the scooters.

With the caveat that yes, I understand that some people would not be able to enjoy the parks without them. My dad was in one for three years before he died. Well, we let him off to sleep and eat and stuff, but you know what I mean.

That said, when the $%&# did "fat and lazy" become a disability? And I'm not talking "Springer" fat, "cut me out of my apartment" fat, or even "they're making a show about me on Discovery" fat. Just normal Amurrican obesity, now on wheels. I swear I saw a guy cutting through Cosmic Ray's on a scooter puling his wife in a wheelchair, going about 80mph inside the building. Yes, Disney's a big place. Yes, your feet get tired. Waah. Suck it up, or stay home. And this from a guy who's a lot closer to the Farley side of the Chippendale's audition stage than the Swayze side.

It's like when they put the scooters in the grocery store, so I can follow Gertrude up and down the aisle for 45 minutes, trying to figure out which tin of cat food she'd like for dinner that night. People: if you're too fat to shop for groceries, STOP EATING!!

I AM fat and lazy, so I go to Disneyland to "exercise".A Day walking around that place kicks my butt!(or at least my feet REALLY hurt). :p:

Yeah, I'm with that, jlowejd5 and DisneyMom. Especially now that my work is very sedentary, the best exercise I get is at WDW. I would probably walk around more in real life, but real life isn't as much fun to look at as WDW! Granted, I've got a bad knee so I'm one misstep or crazy person with a stroller away from needing a wheelchair or ECV myself (or at least crutches, but I don't know if I could do WDW on those) but yeah: I can't help but think that a lot of people wouldn't need the extra help if they'd take the first step of quitting using that extra help.

I know, though, that there are exceptions to everything and some people's other ailments are quite hidden. I'm not a doctor (but I've played one on stage!) so I *try* not to judge... But, as it stands now and whether we agree with it or not, obesity is federally recognized as a disability. Having a baby you don't want to carry, on the other hand, is not. Pick junior's ass up and go enjoy the attractions or get your happy butt back to your hotel. Either way, QUIT GIVING CMGUY A HARD TIME!!! HE'S SIMPLY NOT PAID ENOUGH TO LISTEN TO YOUR SHIT!!! (That last bit is directed at SG's...just a spare bit of rage I needed to let out...)

Preach it! Ticks me off to no end that folks like this give those of us who have had to use GAC and scooters a bad name. My god people were NASTY to me 2 years ago when all they saw was a young woman with no problems in their minds. Heck many of the other "handicapped" folks were the worst

And I try desperately to give people the benefit of the doubt. A friend of mine looks perfectly healthy at first glance, but has rheumatoid arthritis flare-ups so bad that some days she simply cannot function. So I know that appearances can be deceiving.

But I've never seen her leap off her ECV and push her way through a crowd for chicken fingers. Or sprint to the front of an attraction line. And her family doesn't all take turns driving and riding her ECV like it's their personal in-park limo.
