Oh yeah, I have been down in that area some years ago...Whew...lucky to get out alive, just like the eastern part of Oakland....

On the news last night they interviewed the woman security guard who shot the crazy at the church down in the Springs. He had 2 handguns, a rifle and 1000 rounds. They discovered a blog entry at a web site that he had made. that said he blamed Christians for everything and was going to take out as many as he could. If that woman guard had not been armed and was a former police officer (so she was HIGHLY trained) there would have been a massacre there. As it was he killed 4 people before she was able to shoot him. There are crazies everywhere. We have to thank God for the circumstances that put this security guard in that place at that time. May there be more guards in the future that could stop these acts. I hate to live in a police state, but these were guards that the church had and were very surreptitious. No one knew they were even there and they were volunteers, unpaid!

That's the thing about crazy people - they don't always fit in with the plans we sane people have.
In the end, you are allowed to have any opinion you want about the subject. You aren't wrong just because I disagree. I'd be quite happy on my deathbed to be able to look back and say, "Well, I carried that damn gun around for 40 years and never once needed it."
Not really. There only rason could be is if you are law enforcement, and working.

From what I heard on last nights news, packin granny did not have a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Even if she did, if it was issued in Penn, I dont think Florida would reconize it as valid, CCP's usually are issued by the City or county you live in and reconized only in that state since gun laws vary form state to state. But even with a CCP she has no business carrying a gun into a theme park, Disney or any other. If she is not able to remember she has a gun in her purse, should she have a gun at all? I alos heard her daughter, wh she had traveled with packed up and left her in the Orange county jail and went home.
As far as the pop warner kids go, people need to mind there kids, period. One of the biggest complaints I have seen on this site is CM's complaining about peoples shitty kids at the parks. If your going to send/bring your kids to WDW for a big event like this then you as the parent need to make sure they behave. My GF's son is off to science camp this week, his B day is sunday, then Christmas right after that, she told him if he gets in trouble and gets sent home his B day and Christmas are both canceled plus no TV or video games for a very long time. Hes a good kid and minds him manners for the most part but you have to enforce that. If your going to send your kid off to WDW and not go, you better make sure to put the fear of mom and or dad into him so he behaves. Its just unfortunate the parents are the ones who teach these little snots to act this way. And chaperones, they need to be responsable and do their jobs as chaperones. If I sent my kid from Hawaii to WDW for something like this and they got ejected form the property because someone elses little snot got into a fight I would be livid, and expect my money be returned.

I know our grandkids get "hypered" up when we go to DL and DCA, but they are pretty young, and our DIL routinely "calms" them down, but mostly its just excitement of seeing Mickey, Goofey, Buzz etc. (plus we feed them as much sugar as we can when the parents arn't looking ) HA! But I don't believe they have ever gone into SG mode! At least not when we are there. Our DIL is of the "old school" method. But she only has to do the "mommie vexed whisper" to get them on track "I'll take you to the car!!" can cause them to get REALLY quiet!! Strange thing is, she never has to do anything!!

She wouldn't have been arrested for a concealed weapon if she had a permit. There is nothing illegal about carrying at WDW as long as one has the proper permits. OTOH any business can ask anybody they catch carrying to leave and if the person doesn't then they could be arrested for armed trespassing, not for carrying a concealed weapon.
Florida has concealed carry reciprocity with Pennsylvania which means a Pennsylvania resident with a permit from that state may carry concealed in Florida.
I'm thinking what happened is that security found the gun and called over the police. As the woman apparently didn't have a permit she was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon. If she was carrying legally I doubt she would have been arrested and told to either put the gun in one of the lockers for that purpose the MK has or back to her car/hotel room.

Just like I tell DW, whenever we ride IASW with grandkids! I have a flashback to an old style shootin' gallery, and those dancing figures SURE look like they should be shot!! (which is ONE reason I always "check yer weapons")hehehe
