A beautiful cat he is. The name "Orion" is and was very fitting, with his markings.

While it's awful to have lost him, at least it wasn't leukemia, as that would have spread to your other cats. In fact, when Sammy passed, we were told we couldn't have another feline in the house for at least six months just to make sure. My parents got a cocker spaniel, Lou, and while he was a neat dog, he had serious problems, being an adult and having been given up by his first family to us, and then one day, out of the blue, they called us wanting him back. Because I didn't like hurting someone else's feelings, I gave in and we gave him back, but thinking back, they didn't deserve him back. Last I heard, he lived his final days (they gave him away AGAIN!!!) at a nursing home where he was given ample attention.

You're right... one should always have a cat about. My parents have their bitchin' frizzy (translated: Bichon Frise, which is French for fluffy white rat) that will never be housebroken, whereas a cat nearly housebreaks itself. Now, that's not to disparage all dogs, just the annoying, stupid, little ones.

Actually, the other animal I would love to have is a wallaby. And no, not a big one (my wife already has one of those).

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

I wish I could afford to take care of a cat. My entire life I've always been owned by cats and I miss having one around. I had to give away the cat I had when I had to move out of the house I lived in with my mother when she went into the nursing home.

I would bet that dog got so much love in that nursing home...that is sad they just kept giving the dog away. But I can tell you, nursing home residents LOVE animals there. It is sometimes the only unconditional love they will get the rest of their lives. An animal should be so lucky to live in a nursing home as long as there is someone who can make sure it gets fed and has a peebox..LOL!
Bitchy frizzons...I worked an internship at a vet hospital in the Oakland hills some yrs ago and all the rich people with sticks up their butts would bring in their purebred whatevers, lots of those white rats and lots of beautiful dogs who would be brought in for "show clips". Not hair, but nails. We would have to put them under anesthesia to do it, because it is so painful to them and they limp after they awaken. The nails are clipped right to and above the quick, so they bleed. I guess the judges at shows don't like the clicking noise of the dog's nails on the floor.... Brutal.
I want another big gray cat, but we will find a cat that we are drawn to and that is drawn to us, we may have to get two, since one cat may not like one of us...LOL! That would make me happy. Two kittens at once. They would torture Tinkerbell, our brat cat! I will post a pic of her later. I would like to see pics of everyone else's pets, past and present. That would make me happy. I love to look at animal pictures, especially the petchildren of friends!
Post away, kids!

Aw Shorty, I am sorry. You will be able to have another kitty someday. One cool thing that you might do: A lot of shelters love volunteers to come in and walk dogs or play with the cats. I know our shelters here like it. You might check with some of your local shelters to volunteer some time, just a few hours a week, to play with the kitties or walk the pooches. That way you get the fun without the work. And then, someday you will have another kitty, I am sure. If one loves kittys enough, they will find a way to have one in their life!

Well, it may be a Hot Chocolate mug (nudge nudge, wink wink) but we all know what it contains.

Susi, Thanks for showing us more of your beautiful Orion, he was a handsome cat! Was he named after the cat in MIB2?
(also smiling at your Ariel and Belle items)

OT: I thought Orion was in the first MIB movie.

EDIT: Doing a little Googling tells me that Orion was in the first MIB movie.
