I agree that that driver was wrong for not tying down the WC properly. Interesting tho that so many ppl on that thread actually posted the CM's name. There was a big tah-doo not so long back that had a thread closed because posters were mentioning names of CM's that they thot treated them badly. A mod stepped in and said that that was against the rules of the board. HMMM...guess they are still picking and choosing.

Glad that the bus was pulled for inspection and repair. Any news of the novel reading chicky?

Actually, Cranbiz, the original poster was "SueM in MN" who is the other Moderator in disABILTIES. Sue Ellen is a moderator is the Cast Members Only forum and works for either DCL or a Cruise Travel Agency.

But thanks for the helpful comments on the thread.

And I think that since Sue will be writing a letter to Guest Communications this may actually go further. She is an RN and very articulate.

This case was a real event and was dangerous. Too many people will go on boards and say that a CM was rude when the CM was only doing their job. By putting the driever's name on the board then maybe other victims will come forth and fight to get him trained or at least moved to a safe place.

There is a human tendency to shrug things off as someone having a bad day for example. If enough people come forward then a pattern may be shown and the victim will then complain to get the problem fixed.

It is scary to have someone not care about guest safety. I have been hit too many time and know the dangers of low speed accidents.

I got burned bad by Disneyland but still have lots of advice. I used to do the disney boards but I went into the darkness real bad and the food allergies, stress and other bad stuff that goes with celiac and a mother got me to where I never posted any more. I got tired of people putting down my posts where as here I am appreciated and this was for a while the only board beside one other that I even looked at.

I do not take sides but will try to help where ever I am.

I really hope this wasn't anyone here, but the way this guy was rude i highly, highly doubt that.

Yesterday I was boarding the Cast bus to MK. I missed the first one. No problem, here comes the next one. Time was between 2:30 and 2:45 PM. The driver (i never caught his name) was driving one of the new buses with the hydraulic lifts instead of stairs. He let the people on the bus off without lowering the bus. I watched as some people struggled to get off. As we boarded the bus, even more people struggled to get on. The Security guy then says "hey bud, you gotta lower it to let people get on." The driver replies "I treat each one as an able-bodied human." A lady, who had a hard time getting on (as did i with my prosthetic) turns and says "We're not all able-bodied!" The guy still refuses to lower it as more people get on.

If you think that's arrogant and bad, it gets even "better". As we're pulling out he comes tot he STOP sign and blows right through it. doesn't STOP at all. We come to the 4-way stop and he slows down then speeds right back up. We get to the stop near ToonTown, he let's the 2-3 people on and AFTER they get on he starts lowering the bus, then raises it cause...heck there's no one else there! We get going again, are turning to pull in front of the Utiladoors and he BARELY missed a parked delivery truck. He again LOWERS the bus when about HALF the people are off.

I tried to catch this guys name but he was well covered up. If anyone knows how I can get a message to Disney, I DO know he was driving bus 4881 between 2:30-3:00 PM yesterday (10/7/07).

All they need is the bus number approximate time. I am sure Cranbiz and Wallaby can help you. The bus is supposed to be lowered for safety reasons and he was rude in his comments. We need to check with SGT lawyer Wombat about him violating the ADA or other laws.

If I were a guest and he treated me that way I would have held onto the bus and asked security to get his boss out asap. Of course when a person is on a schedule and has to be at work they do not always have the luxury of throwing a hissy fit.

That's the one downside. I'm going to also goto my manager's today and bring it up with them. This guy needs to be stopped before something worse happens. it almost seemed like his actions were a variation of "well I'll show them!"

Unfortunately, many of the drivers think that when they get on Cast buses, it's not necessary to be polite. There's a reason that some bus drivers are giving the rest of us a bad name in the company... just one more reason to get out of buses as soon as I can. The people to talk to on this driver would be your managers, and if they don't do anything, transport managers.

Now, as far as waiting until half the people were out of the bus to lower it, the Novas do take a bit of time to put down, because you have to take it out of gear, set the park brake and turn a key, then it will kneel, and that can sometimes take quite a few seconds, plenty of time for the bus to be half empty. I've got pretty quick at kneeling, but I can't say how. I would really prefer we use the Gilligs on the Cast shuttles because they don't have to be taken out of gear or have the park brake applied to kneel, so I can work on that as I am kneeling.

But being rude to Cast Members, to me that is unacceptable. I know many do it, but I still choose not to understand. As I see it, we're taking you to work so you can serve the guests, and we don't need to erode your happiness before you go out on stage. But then, Cranbiz and I are fairly unique among bus drivers. I can count on my hand the number of drivers I actually ever want to talk to, because most of the rest are of the mindset that driving a bus at Disney is *just* a job. See: Union shop stewards (at least, most of them, and the best one is moving to New York at the end of the year to take care of his parents or something. :( )

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?
