Thing about the wand was the it always looked sort of like it was unfinished. Being able to see all the metal beams looked tacky for a place like Disney...at least I thought so. Plus when I took family to the park my mom spent almost the whole day asking me when the big hand would start moving because it looked like it was supposed to move around.

I am admittedly not a wand fan. But to see it all cracked up and all over? Makes me feel sorry for it. :(

And YES I do realize it is an inanimate object, but I am mental. :D: I am one of those people who cries at sad commercials. Makes for hours of enjoyment for my husband and children.

Disney Parks are storytelling tools. They will continue to be sharpened, replaced, retooled, and adjusted as long as there is imagination left in the world.

... and Imagineers to design them.

Zazu you rock!! Well said!!
I for one, never liked the wand. It cheapend an amazing Disney icon. Glad to know that if I ever return to WDW (it's been ten long years since last visit.) ,the wand will be a distant memory.

My 10-year-old son had the same reaction. The video's just kind of interesting to me but emotionally neutral... but he had a sad expression and was saying, "Awwww... that's so sad!!" :(

I hated that wand worse than an infected cold sore, but I think it's wonderfully poetic that the giant ball is sponsored by Siemens.

Last Sept was the first time we noticed the "Siemens" name projected onto SSE at night. I enjoyed several days of ball/sperm jokes from the husband.

Any rumors about adding a second... ? No, sorry, I'm not going to finish that. Too obvious.

Maybe it's some sort of subtle, subconscious symbolism that Mickey is a monorchid mouse. But hey, at least it's a BIG one.

Have you *seen* the prices at Disney? Mickey just *has* to have some major cojones to charge that much! :moneybag:
