I think I learned a lot more in my first week than I did during training. You learn about how other people operate, and how you need to change the way you operate to keep everything running smoothly.

I've only been around for two months now and I've been frightened by the way some of my fellow trainees have operated attractions.

For example, one evening at Snow White the unload person pulled the locked chain out of its magnetic holder at unload one without inhibiting the car. The inhibit is crucial to prevent the car from moving and I hit my station stop and announced on the PA that the car in unload 1 was not inhibited. The computer also saw that she didn't inhibit the car and literarily forced the chain out and also called an auto-station stop. I announced to her again that she did not inhibit the car. Finally I paged her ride phone because she wasn't responding to the announcement. I try not to be rude or over controlling since I myself am new but I found this particular maneuver particularly dangerous - especially if for some reason the computer didn't see that the chain was ripped out.

Sounds like the time I was load 1 at Pooh and they disbatched the beehive on me. WHILE I WAS CLOSING DOORS. I screamed "STATION STOP!" And closed the door. I glared at the person at disbatch and at load 2. It takes 2 people to disbatch the beehives at Pooh.

You don't count as a new hire...you're like a Transfer. You know the basic Disney stuff just learning the Mansion. Kind of like a cross train.

I was just amused at how gracefully you avoided giving a straight answer. Very tactful indeed.

Seriously, I quite agree that a transfer is nowhere near as bad as a newbie. At the MK, we refer to newbies as "fresh meat". Keeps 'em nervous until they figure out why.

Is that the same thing as watching someone fail their PAand leaning over to the lead.. "how much longer do they gotta do this?" i felt bad for the trainee, but it just wasn't sinking in.

I use to have that happen to me on Indy all the time... we really need to bring back Hold signals....
