A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.

At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

I think you're hearing a lot of Wicked because of Idina Menzel's vocal style. Listening to the soundtrack, I hear some of that, some Avenue Q, and some Finding Nemo The Musical ... which are all to be expected, since it's the same songwriting team.
All said, I enjoyed the movie, and I love the soundtrack. Can't wait to see it when the broadway version comes to Orlando. (Or Tampa ... I don't know how the new Orlando PAC will be, but I prefer the Straz to the Bob Carr)

I prefer a Waste Management 40' dumpster to the Bob. It's a big concrete box with the acoustics of a big concrete box. At least in the dumpster you have a better chance of hearing the show!
I got a "hard-hat tour" of the new Performing Arts Center last month. Very impressive. The main stage is intimate compared to Tampa's, with the cheap seats perhaps half as far from the stage. The Community Stage is quite versitile with movable seating, and the Acoustic Stage (to be built in phase 2) will be designed to have no artificial amplification. Haven't seen that done on this scale before (successfully).
It'll be nice to be able to go to a show without having to pack a lunch.

I recommend paying a visit to Hill Auditorium, on the campus of the University of Michigan.
