Interesting people...
Re: Interesting people...
I thought the Tron wrapped monorail was a decent idea for a promotion...
God knows it's better then the Barbie-cake Castle some of us had the misfortune to deal with or even LOOK at. Whoever came up with THAT idea should have been tossed off the tallest balcony of the castle, right before Tinkerbell's flight.
Oh god, interesting people. We had a few in my day, my favorite was "Mr. Super Fan" as well called him. He was at RnRC at least once a week and would threw constantly in hopes he could meet someone from Aerosmith getting on the ride. He would bore you endless babbling about the concerts he's been too, how he tired to be a toady.. I mead Roady, all the signed stuff he has. You could always spot him too: the "Trying to be Steven Tyler" haircut and shocking number of patches/pins/crap on a sleeves-cut-off denim jacket. At once point he was trying to bribe employees to steal stuff out of "Studio B" that "Aerosmith Touched!" for him. Probably got himself tossed out eventually..
It was best to avoid eye contact and suddenly be very busy.
Is the lady who carried the "Life-like Soft Pose" doll (her words) still haunting Fantasmic?

Problem is, for doors, destination signs, lights, etc. you cut out, and you go around a curve to another straight (at least, on the Gillig) surface, as opposed to the Monorail's constant curve. You would have to cut down the straight sticker, and that could be a pain. After all, if you look at Coral up close, it doesn't look nearly as good as it does from about 150' away. And further, if you notice, the cabs are not the same color as the wrap.Goofyernmost wrote:What you are saying could very well be absolutely true, however, if you think about what the front of a bus looks like with windows, headlights, signal lights, destination signs, entrance doors, etc. it's hard to believe that the smooth tapered lines on the front and back of the monorails would be much of a trick to wrap.
What I'd really like to see is them keep that same color, and go for a TARDIS feel, complete with being bigger on the inside.
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

I'm glad you mentioned that - I was the only one in my family who noticed the color difference and I thought I might be going crazy!Big Wallaby wrote:Problem is, for doors, destination signs, lights, etc. you cut out, and you go around a curve to another straight (at least, on the Gillig) surface, as opposed to the Monorail's constant curve. Re: Interesting people...
You may be going crazy, but that's not a sign. The fact you seem to be fitting in well here, on the other hand...
From the first time I noticed it, it bugged me, and it continued to bug me even as I drove the train.

Re: Interesting people...
I see what your saying and I don't have the experience doing them to push the point. I know we didn't wrap our Gilligs because they were too new so the RTS buses were the ones we chose. They actually are more rounded then the Gilligs which always reminded me of having the aerodynamics of a brick. :D:Big Wallaby wrote:Problem is, for doors, destination signs, lights, etc. you cut out, and you go around a curve to another straight (at least, on the Gillig) surface, as opposed to the Monorail's constant curve. I'd love to see one of the phone boxes in EPCOT redone as the TARDIS. . .just to pose for pictures in front of. :D:Big Wallaby wrote:Problem is, for doors, destination signs, lights, etc. you cut out, and you go around a curve to another straight (at least, on the Gillig) surface, as opposed to the Monorail's constant curve. Re: Interesting people...
The cabs & roof were painted with that dark blue, and the rest of the train is just a wrap.Shorty82 wrote:I believe for the main body the wrap is essentially the same as a bus wrap but because of the shape of cabs there was no way of wrapping them, they had to be painted. I can see having to repaint the entire train after removing the wrap, if nothing else to ensure the color of the cabs and cars match perfectly.
That's why Coral was chosen for the TRON wrap. It needed a repaint, and the agreement was that the folks at TRON are paying the bill for Coral's repainting.Goofyernmost wrote:I know that whenever we had a bus that needed to be wrapped it was usually chosen from the buses that needed painting anyway, so whether or not it did damage to the paint, it didn't matter. It was going to be painted anyway.
