Randolph Mantooth -- Paramedic John Gage -- is alive and well, co-owner of a bar in New York, active in Project 51, a program to honor both the show's impact on the paramedic movement and to honor EMTs. Married with 4 kids.

Kevin Tighe -- Paramedic Roy DeSoto -- is a working actor, with many roles on TV, including Thomas Jefferson and William Randoph Hearst. One daughter.

Julie London -- Dixie McCall, R.N. -- died in 2000. She had two kids with Jack Webb and two with Bobby Troup.

Bobby Troup -- Dr. Joe Early -- died in 1999 at 80. Formerly a songwriter, including such hits as "Route 66" recorded by everyone from Nat King Cole to the Rolling Stones.

Robert Fuller -- Dr. Kelly Brackett -- a cowboy at heart, has played many guest roles in TV series, from "Adventures of Rin Tin Tin" to "Walker, Texas Ranger". Now retired to his ranch.

Marco López -- Fireman Marco Lopez -- also played in "The Six Million Dollar Man" which amount he likely never earned for his acting. Still working at 75.

Mike Stoker -- Fireman Mike Stoker -- went back to his day job after the show ended, as a firefighter with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. He retired with the rank of Captain. Two sons and a daughter who was named Miss Teen Montana in 1998.

Tim Donnelly -- Fireman Chet Kelly -- was a stock actor for Jack Webb's production company, appearing in most of his series, and even directing several episodes of "Emergency!". He's another Los Angeles native like me.

Michael Norell -- Captain Hank Stanley -- was previously a Captain in the Army, later turned to screenwriting working on such shows as "The Love Boat" and the Emmy-nominated "The Incident".

That enough, or do you want the minor characters too?

EDIT: Ouch! Scooped by Zazu. And with more current information to boot. To add a couple, however.

Ron Pinkard (Dr. Mike Morton) is retired, and has served for several years on the Denver Film Commission

Dick Hammer (who was the captain of Station 51 during the first season) left the show to return full time to the LACoFD (like Mike Stoker, he was hired because he was a real life firefighter with a SAG card.) He retired with the rank of Captain, and passed away in 1999.

Also, Randy and Kevin have remained good friends ever since the end of the show. I believe that Kevin is also at least somewhat active in Project 51, and they've at least a couple of times tried to either resurrect the show or create something similar.

Those of us that spent any time in Vietnam and had access to Armed Forces Television used to see Bobby Troup all the time. He used to play the piano and sing during the time fill between programs. This happened because no commercial advertisements were on AFT and they had time to fill. I have to admit that we young kids (basically) didn't really have the maturity to appreciate what he was doing and thought him to be the biggest square since ice cubes.

Oh, well...with aging comes understanding.

Thanks, Zazu. Kinda thought Dixie and Bobby were gone; I haven't had access to a newspaper on a daily basis in years. What about the dog Boot? I remember one time he was a basset hound, another time he was a terrier. There was an episode where Boot was being temperamental, and everyone thought maybe he was sick. A hilarious moment occurred when Gage and DeSoto were at Rampart, and were asking how to take a dog's tempeture. I remember Dixie was miming how to get the thermometer under the dog's tongue; later, of course, it showed Gage having the honor of taking Boot's tempeture rectally. It was 101 degrees, and of course they don't know if that's a fever in a dog or normal. Later, Dixie tells them it's a normal temp for a dog. Anyway, turns out Boot was feeling upset because Gage had yelled at him earlier; he was a very sensitive dog. I always wonder why they switched breeds like that, though on the other hand I think the basset was named Henry.

Boot was the terrier mix who appeared in the first three seasons. The basset hound was Henry, who was in the final season of the show.

Sadly, Boot passed away in 1975 during the fifth season. Henry was brought in during the sixth and final season to cover his role.
