If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to visit The Walt Disney Family Museum - if you do it on Thursday, we may well meet.

I enjoyed my visit to WDFM. I could have spent a good hour or more studying the Lilly Belle. I am ready to go back!

Which "Lilly Belle"? That name's been used on at least four vehicles that I know of.

I'm looking forward to getting my first visit to the museum next September. Can't wait!

The Museum is home to the original Lillybelle locomotive as well as the original, wooden cars for Walt's Carolwood Pacific Railroad. The studio made one prototype of each car in wood and then took castings, right down to the grain lines and produced duplicate cards in aluminum for durability, strength and weight. We also have the caboose.

I know because I got to pop a visiting Cast Member's bubble yesterday ;) all those years in DL and he thought he was seeing the original.

DragonFox and Zazu,

Please send me a PM, I don't seem to be able to send to you.

Actually, if anyone of you(se) are visiting the museum, please message me.

I seem to remember a period of time where my Dad was working on a train for the museum, he was even invited(and went) to the opening.

Well, he did a beautiful job.

I do wish we'd display the caboose the same way they did at the Sacramento Railway Museum (ours is closed).
