TCU 1908 doesn't seem to be very "on the ball" regarding things in general

The Service Trades Council Union has set a vote for the proposed Collective Bargaining Agreement.

It will be held on Thursday, 14 October 2010 from 07:00 to 19:00 at the Convention Centre located at Disney's Contemporary Resort

To be eligible to vote, you must be a Full Time Cast Member employed in a STCU-covered role (Casual Regular Cast Members will vote on their contract at a later date). In addition, you must be currently enrolled as a member in good standing on the membership rolls of one of the following labour unions:

• UNITE HERE, Local 362
• Workers United, Local 737
• International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 385
• Transporation Communications International Union, Local 1908
• United Food and Commerical Workers Union, Local 1625

To enrol, or to ascertain your membership status, please contact a Shop Steward or other union representative.

Do you have to have a union card or just be a dues-paying member? When I was in merchandise the UFCW sent me a union card, but the TCU never has.

I've never gotten a card from either HERE 362 or TCU 1908. I was able to vote in the last election, no problem.

If any Union Officials are reading this, please make sure to have full copies of the proposed contract available for people to read. I don't want to read the (union-produced) summary sheet, I want to see the whole thing, so I know exactly what I'm voting on.

As mentioned, you should be fine. I've never had a Union Card, and it certainly hasn't stopped me from voting (though I've never voted at WDW).

However, each labour union does reserve the right to determine what a "member in good standing" is in acordance with their own organizational procedures and bylaws. If you want to make sure, you should consult a Shop Steward in your area.

Actually, given that it's the STCU, and it's various member unions, I'd actually have to say that no, that question doesn't come up.

Since that's not a prerequisite for the jobs, the Unions aren't permitted to ask it.

Just a correction, voting locations will be split based on member Union.

Members of UNITE HERE Local 362, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1625, Transportation Communications International Union 1908 and Workers United Local 737 will be voting at the Convention Centre, located at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

Members of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 385 will be voting in the Westgate Monorail Conference Room at the Transportation and Ticket Centre.

Members of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 631 (IATSE) will be voting at the Roger Rabbit Conference Room, located at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

The Company will be providing complementary transportation from work areas to the polling places, check with your Leader for information. Cast Members may vote while on-the-clock.

UNITE HERE Local 362, UFCW Local 1625, Teamsters Local 385 have all pronounced themselves against the proposed CBA. Workers United Local 737 has pronounced itself for the proposed CBA. TCU Local 1908 and IATSE Local 631 have not taken a position on the proposed CBA.
