Re: Have the CMs noticed kids being dragged around by crazy parents?
Today I had the pleasure of having to bodily drag my brother from the Jungle Cruise, because he was trying to tell the skipper a joke, and was not moving, and blocking most of the boat from getting off (we were in the doorway). He has autism, and will not listen if he's set on something, so I'm sure I looked awful trying to lift him, kicking and screaming, flailing in other peoples' faces.... he had already almost hit the man next to us multiple times when he was stimming... so I'm sure if you came in on the end of that, it might have looked pretty bad.
That's why I try to give people the benefit of the doubt when I see them arguing with their kids. Sometimes it's obviously out of control on the parents' part, but having been on the other side of it, I know it's not always what it looks like.
ETA: I know that the original reason for this post was because of people who do things commando, which my family definitely doesn't do, it's just not possible. In the case of that guy, he isn't paying attention to what his child wants. But I just wanted to say that not all situations that may seem like that one are actually like that one. Basically. If that makes sense. :)

Because we don't have a separate dancing vegetables section, and Dancing Hitler seemed to fit here better than in People.darph nader wrote:Zazu, why is a dancing Hitler in the food and drink section?

Wow. I never realized how much Jareth looks like Beethoven. Uncanny.

I always hate when guests do this. I was doing a key assist the other day and the father told his son, "Here's the policeman, now you have to behave."Zazu wrote: Usual scene, I walk by and the parents tell their kid, "See, the Conductor has come to make you get off the train."
"Oh no I'm not! I'm here to tell you all that you may ride as long as you want to."
"You're not helping!"
"Sorry, you have to bribe me in advance if you want me to lie to you child."
I couldn't help wonder if the kid is supposed to believe there are a lot of 315lb policemen walking around in pinstripe blazers with green Mickey Mouse ties.
I wouldn't mind it as much if it was the ill-behaved kids, but the parents who do this often seem to do it to kids that are already behaving themselves.

If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason. -Jack Handy

I thought it might be because a dancing Hitler is one of the things darph sees when he drinks.Zazu wrote:Because we don't have a separate dancing vegetables section, and Dancing Hitler seemed to fit here better than in People.

They are the same parents that tell their kids if they are not good with a police officer a round that they are going to get arrested or at the doctors if they are not good they going to get a shot.HarryFromMarydelDE wrote:I always hate when guests do this. Great way to build trust in law enforcement and some times dr's have to give shots. Our Drs specifically told us during a meet and greet for new parents not to make them the bad guy.
Re: Have the CMs noticed kids being dragged around by crazy parents?
I am so glad my daughter did not know this when she was younger. (We would still be on that train LOL). But it is good to know, my Dad will travel thousands of miles..... and just ride the train.Zazu wrote:More often than I'd like to remember.
I was a Conductor on the WDW Railroad, where you could ride for hours if you wanted -- we don't make people get off unless they're misbehaving or we're really *really* crowded.
As far as screaming children, I think there are a few different cases. I do not agree with the "we paid all this money now have fun" parents. But I do not have a problem with a parent actually parenting a child and removing them from ride, attraction, park whatever. I don't go for the "stop it Susie, stop it Susie" over and over again for an hour. It is "stop it or we will leave". You choose not to stop, we leave. I have removed my daughter from MK...... once. She was not happy and I have never had to do it again. (She can't tell you what she had for dinner last night, but she can tell you about the time she misbehaved and Mommy took her out of MK) ;)

I don't know. I've always thought Hitler was a fruitcake anyway.Zazu wrote:Because we don't have a separate dancing vegetables section, and Dancing Hitler seemed to fit here better than in People.
