Stupiest Guest of the Year?

Although you did a great job of putting us all in our place, I think you are missing an important ingredient here. Is it stupid to call in a fire during a fireworks display that centers around the castle when there are literally thousands of people surrounding it with a better vantage point then where you are? Is it stupid to not use common sense, in this case, and disrupt a very expensive show and inconvenience many, many people because you don't have the sense god gave an ant? Is it stupid to call in a prank call just for grins and giggles when something real could be disastrous and out of reach because of this response?

The answer is YES!

Now if I'm, lets say, driving down a street and I see a house on fire or looks like it is, there is not a crowd around and I don't call 911 then I am STUPID. In this case...use your head. Not every situation calls for the same reaction.

I was there on the 20th. Had paid for the dessert party but left at 10:30 when the fireworks hadn't yet started. We walked through the stores on main street to stay a little more dry. I am all for breastfeeding but.............. We hit the bakery, at the front door to the right there was a female "full monty" even though the baby could only eat on one side at a time.

But let me put it this way, just cause you didn't see a fire..does that mean that there was no fire? Just cause you personally think that something is a prank, is it a prank?

At Disney, Safety is no joke. Whether our guests want us to protect them or not, our safety procedures and protocols will consistently be implemented at all times.

Well, the thing is, it's a state law in Florida.

Any woman may breastfeed in any location where she and the child are otherwise permitted to be, the nudity ban exempts any display of breasts in the process, and the law provides penalties for harassing her about it.

And yes, this includes locations others think of as inappropriate for breastfeeding.

As a CM, I've told mothers about nicer places to breastfeed, but I cannot ask that they go there. In one case, another guest complained about breastfeeding, and I not only had to refuse to speak to the woman in question, I had to threaten to call the sheriff if she bugged her herself. Shocked her more than a little that the law protected such, and even more that a CM might intervene.

Yeah, she bitched me out at City Hall, but my (female) manager gave me an Attaboy for it.

don't misunderstand, there is nothing wrong about breastfeeding itself.I just feel it should be done discretely-2 breasts out-not necessary.

Even Hubby complains when he has gone into the Men's Bathroom at DLR and some guy is there at the urinal with his pants around his ankles

I understand that you can't force anyone to hide, but you'd think that most wouldn't want to show all to everyone.

Nope...my boobs stayed outta sight! LOL I nursed all three of my kids and unless you stared at me, you would've thought I just had a blanket draped over me for a nap. I've had a couple of instances where people thought I "shouldn't be doing THAT!", but I've shrugged it off. The worst one was at a burger-king type restaurant on the MD-DE border (think top of the Bible Belt). I went all the way to the back of the restaurant (where no one was...it was NOT busy) and put the blacket over my shoulder, picked my daughter up and started to feed her. The next thing I knew, two males (one a manager) were demanding I go into the restroom to feed her. I told them absolutely not and looked down to make sure everything was covered. They insisted and told me they would call the cops unless I complied. I smiled and then informed them I would love for them to call the police - that I was protected under state law to breastfeed anywhere I am allowed to enter. They looked dumbfounded; they couldn't actually fathom that this was allowed. I know they did call and check it out with both a police dispatcher and their district manager, but it's not like I ever got an apology -they both just walked back behind the counter.

The other two instances were both in the local mall. When I had my daughter, I would drop my hubby off for work and then walk around the mall (it was a good way to get in two miles or more). My daughter was getting fussy one morning, so I pulled up to a bench, flipped the blanket on and started to feed her. I noticed an older couple walk by with disgust on their faces; the woman actually came back and asked me why I thought I had to do that right at this moment. I said, simply, because my baby is hungry. The other instance was with my most recent baby and a security guard. You would think of all people (in a very busy mall) a security guard would know better. He started heading right for me, but my hubby cut him off (he saw him bee-lining it for me) and asked if there was a problem. He loooked at hubby, looked at me staring at hubby, looked back at hubby and then said, "guess not".

As much as I am for breast-feeding...please, if you're out in public, be a little discreet....no need to show everyone your goods. :)

I'll follow the topic drift with my two cents worth....

Do I think breast-feeding is natural? Yes. Do I think a mother has a right to breast-feed a baby? Sure. Does she have the right to do it anywhere she wants at any time? No.

You may argue that it is not the mother's fault people are uncomfortable with public breast-feeding. There are also folks who feel it isn't their fault that people are uncomfortable with public nudity. However, the fact is that the general public feels that breast-feeding isn't appropriate in many public settings. Personally, I'm all in favor of there being places where mothers can go to, privately, tend to their child's needs. Heck, I could even see that such places being made mandatory in a similar fashion to laws requiring public toilets be available.
