Out here at DL, CMS are allowed to have water with labels on. In the foods and beverage department, in the contract: CMS are allowed to drink water of any sort on stage. It has to be kept on their location and out of site of guests.

I did take a tour of Outdoor Foods at the MK. They did have something odd. I did see the small bottles but a fountain drink machine and soft drinks. The CMS did have the small black puches. 1 water outside and 1 soft drink inside. Dang, that's not fair. But again if it does get hot and your sugar level does drop, the cm does have something for recovery.

Attractions out here also have bottles of water. They do leave the labels on so that they know who's water is whos. DL has Arrowhead or filtered water from the restaurants.

Sugar is the least of your worries. Hydration, sodium, potassium, and electrolytes are much more important.

Ummm.....no, the label comes off, we usually write our names directly on the bottle, or just keep it with us.

Does this mean you don't want any Guest Service Fanatic Cards written up on you either?

The picture taking thing seems to smack of a "tropy shot" type of attitude.

"See how good a guest I am, I gave goody bags to 300 CM's this trip"

and talking about it on a web site that is frequented by, umm, AVID fans of all things disney will only compound the problem as people will start to try the one-upsmanship of it.

how long will it be before someone puts in an atomic fireball in the bag?(my favorite by the way) or something that the CM is allergic to?

or worse still, put something in the treats. (and just because something is wrapped does not mean its safe)

I do like the point another poster said, you wouldn't expect to get them or give them at any other place of business, so why at WDW or DLR?

it would be much better to do what we do, fill out a card on the CM at City hall for all the great things they do for us. (and I tuck a small notpad and pen in my pocket and jot down names and time and attraction to give them the credit they deserve)

And what would they do with the pictures? I'd worry about that--too much stuff going on that they could use the photos for. That sounds really suspicious.

The 'compliment' is in the form of a picture of said CM accepting a gift from a guest on stage. This is a violation of company policy. Disciplinary action can result up to and including termination. So the CM compliment can be the last thing noted on their record card right before "Poor Professional Judgement" reprimand resulting in termination.

I realize you are not a CM or company employee. I realize you have glimmered some information regarding operations including GSFs. However, there are many company policies and procedures in place that as a guest you may not be aware of. We are not just any service industry employee. We are Cast Members. We have a much higher standard we are expected to uphold by our Company, our Cast, and our guests. :D:

I get plenty of GSFs from cast and guests. I got plenty of crap from both too for just doing my job.

Oh, and we do not allow guests to give out candy in our parks for trick or treating during MNSSHP. So why would we allow them to do it on other days?

There is a long time idiot guest that stays at a particular resort. Every time she makes a huge load of cookies in cardboard boxes (like she is moving or something) and delivers them to the front desk. Every year she is a royal pain in the ass. And every year her cookie boxes go straight to the dumpster. Of course, every CM knows who she is cause she mentions how she hopes you enjoyed the cookies she baked for weeks before coming etc etc and then hits you with her "request" to be special.

So, why not come in, let us do our jobs and make your vacation magical. In turn, you respect us as equals or at least with the respect that you would like to be given.

Tip your servers and bar tenders with all that money you are squandering on 'goody bags' and "special outfits".

QSR labels on Dasani and other water bottles, labels are kept on and stored in a storage area.

Yes, for the ones we sell, but the ones that attractions CMs use there are no labels allowed. It's a fact, you can try to dispute it, but the fact is I am an attractions CM and you are not, so I think I know more about my Line of Business than you do.

First off, I would like to say that this is my first time posting, but I have been following SGT for a couple of weeks now. I had to chime in on this goody bag issue. I work in a retail store that specializes in a specific product and we are the only branch in town. Because of this our staff gets treated differently than clerks at chains that have many locations. Our customers come in and recognize us, they feel like they are our buddies and as such deserve preferential treatment over other customers. Sometimes they try to thank us by hugging or even tipping, which we are NEVER allowed to accept. Situations like this can be sticky because we don't want to offend anyone but we have to follow company policy. In my experience these are overzealous customers who feel like they are part of our "family" and like to be involved with us on a personal level. They cannot understand that we are just people earning a living. A heartfelt thank you is all we would like to receive for doing our jobs. I know that working for Disney is a bit different since CMs are considered part of the magic but people tend to forget that there are boundaries that should not be crossed especially in this day and age when there are so many wackadoos who might poison food or use pictures taken of CMs for less than honorable purposes. I know it might sound negative or pessimistic but it's not. It's called being cautious and using common sense. The number one thing guests need to remember when visiting any Disney resort is that being kind to CMs and behaving responsibly is the best gift they can give. Say please, thank, your welcome, etc. And smile at and acknowledge the people around you, guest or CM. This can work in everyday life as well.

Please allow me to be the first to offer you a very warm* welcome to that slice of the internet we call SGT. This website contains threads with quick twists and turns and I would like to advise you to not try to hard to keep up with them. Please keep your hands, arms, and legs safely inside the website at all times and enjoy your stay. You can expect a member of the Marsupial Welcoming Committee to be along to welcome you officially.

*this instance of warm is actually hot**... very hot

**this instance of hot means that you are now literally on fire, I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for any inconvenience
