I thought those were all replaced in 05 with something better as for Tink's landing.

Honda, FYI, not a wise idea to challenge Shorty.
No one is challenging anyone.
BRWombat wrote:Love ya, H.E., but how long since your last eye exam? I've watched the fireworks from the Polynesian Beach and can tell that Tink is a real person. If you're standing at the castle and she's only ~160 feet above your head, there's something wrong if all you see is a dot.
I have 20/20 vision. And I am sorry but from the Poly beach you cant hardly tell there is anyone flying. you can barely make out details on the castle. so unless you have bionic eyes your only "seeing" here because you know its a real person.
Ho-say wrote:This is not even factoring in that that there simply wouldn't be enough momentum for a flight from the castle, over the Hub and all the way down Main Street USA. That's a considerably longer flight than what Tink does now.
Besides, only Peter Pan can draw a new line in the sky for Tink ;)
MOMENTUM??? from the top of the castle to the top of the train station. She would ZOOM down there.

NBD. ishs are fine with me. ;) Seeing & hearing Tink hit the mattress @ DL was classic. :D:

Out of curiosity, does anyone know the size requirements for Tink? Our guide said them in the tour, i think, I just can't recall. Also stated that Tink was always decked out, for the zoom lenses.
(Looking to the future when Mrs. Skippy will be needing employment in the area, too) She's already the right size to befriend the big cheeses.

The tallest point of the castle is 189 feet, it looks taller thanks to forced perspective. Tink does not take off from that point. Main Street Station at the Magic Kingdom boasts 108 feet, which would be the platform, I'm not sure what the highest point is on the building itself. I also don't know the distance between the castle and train station, but I imagine it is too great of a distance for Tink to "zoom" down there.
Oh, and I could make out Tink when I watched the fireworks from the California Grill at the Contemporary on one trip.

I have to disagree - I think there would a good probability that Tink would stop short somewhere down Main Street - imagine the poor girl just dangling over Casey's

let alone that she'd be landing in a guest area. The current landing zone keeps her touch down out of sight of guests.
Plus, you must also take into consideration that the wire needs to remain there 24/7. Even if it were feasible to have her go down Main Street USA, the wire would potentially interfere with the height of some parade floats, Christmas decorations (think of the candles/wreaths that are strung above Main St. USA, plus the Christmas tree put up in Town Square) and all publicity shots/promotional shows/commercials done throughout the year.

Kind of like George of the Jungle.
Thanks techie, ,2 days ago,no biggie. This morning,it's all I could think about. :(

I don't know the details but I do know she has to be pretty small there is a very strict weight range for her; to light she won't go far enough, to heavy she'll go to fast.

Using Google Earth to measure, the distance from the front-most spire on Cinderella Castle to the "observation deck" of the train station is approximately 1020 feet. Using Ktulu's figures, there is a vertical difference of 81 feet.
Therefore, Tink would have a sink rate of roughly .07 feet (less than 1 inch) downwards for every foot forwards. Now, granted, I'm no physicist, but it seems to me like you'd need a much greater amount of downward momentum in order to overcome friction and move that far forwards.

She'd need a running start to get moving.
