I know there's a lot of shrink in my shops. It's expected and is a part of the reason why everything is so expensive (to make up for the items that walk). There's only so much undercover security and the cast can do to stop it.

As for Candyland: Always knew something was up there because I would see OC parking right outside and them standing around and at the top of the stairs. Love the name "candyland." Best smelling jail a criminal will ever visit. That must be part of the punishment. I used to work outside of a cookie factory and at times it was torture. Especially when they were baking coconut cookies. They made cookies for various brands such as Lil' Dutch Maid, but after sitting in warehouse and stores they just couldn't satisfy.

The main offices for MK Security are up there and that is naturally where OCSO has their substation. That's why there are nearly always security cast and sheriff deputies back there along with a number of their vehicles parked in the lot.

I don't think the smells make it upstairs that often. When they're making mint fudge you can smell it all through the Confectionery and Chapeau and sometimes in parts of Uptown.

I honestly never saw the point. The stores and just heavy as all get out and it's pretty obvious you're carrying one around. Catlifting on the other hand. . . Now that's fun.

When I was a security guard and had the old Gemco stores as my post, we had undercover agents working the floor. One time, one of our undercovers caught a woman shoplifting, and the man with her thought, since he didn't speak English, the officer was harassing the woman, and apparently felt he needed to protect her honor. The officer explained the situation to the man, in English and in Spanish, but I don't think the guy believed him, because he attacked the officer--and got himself arrested as well. The officer came back to the warehouse, where we had a guard post for people to pick up their large items, and I saw he had his shirt torn and he had some scratches on him. I asked what happened, and he told me.

And yeah, we would get some odd situations when people didn't understand our roles that well. Once I was standing at the exit, checking for receipts, and this guy comes in the exit. I tell him he needs to go in through the front, and he said there was some guy who was coming up to women coming out of the nearby laundromat, and was throwing their clothes out of their washbaskets, etc.. He thought I had jurisidiction over the whole area; he started looking at me for a phone or walkie-talkie (cell phones were new back then), asking if I could call for assistance. I told him I did security for the store, had no jusrisdiction over the rest of the minimall, and he would have to call the cops himself. And no, I had no communication device on me. I was inside the store; why would he think I was over the whole rest of that corner? He wasn't too happy when he left. People sure get some odd ideas....

There is something both ironic and satisfying to know that there is a jail / holding cell on Main Street USA!

It's just so disappointing that is actually has customers...

And you know this how? Zazu has said there is one and he is the resident expert on the Magic Kingdom. If anybody would know about a holding cell in the Magic Kingdom it would be him.

But as others have said, one run-in with security and it's off to Candyland!

[Note: Candyland is the nickname for the Sheriff's substation and jail at the Magic Kingdom because it's upstairs from the Confectionery.]

It also makes sense for there to be a cell up there to hold somebody that's been arrested while waiting for transport (there's usually an OCSO car in Park 1 but not always).

I wouldn't be surprised if all four parks at WDW have sheriff substations with holding cells somewhere backstage. I also wouldn't be surprised if DLR has a police substation on property with holding cells.

We were discussng this weren't we Shorty? We have APD offices on property. Not sure abt a cell. Will ask my favorite DL Security Officer. He'll roll his eyes & say; "SGT, right?" ;) :D:
