I don't think a cast member should have to tell a guest that they can't smoke where they are. Shorty82 I am not saying that you said cast members should have to tell a guest that they can't smoke where they are, I just wanted to give my opinion on this. If I was a cast member I believe that I would be afraid to tell a guest that they can't smoke where they are.

Actually, the parks are non-smoking except for the select smoking locations. So CMs are supposed to tell smokers outside the locations that they need to go to the spots to smoke. So if a CM isn't telling guests that they have to move to a smoking location to smoke, IMO they aren't doing their job unfortunately (because it isn't right to all the other guests to have to put up with the smoke).

When I was working at Knott's, it was amazing how many guests couldn't seem to see the no smoking signs in Camp Snoopy. You're not supposed to smoke anywhere in Camp Snoopy, on rides or in ride queues, in bathrooms, or in sitdown restaurants. Seriously, I would politely tell guests that there's no smoking in Camp Snoopy, and they'd ask where it said that. I'd point to the sign right behind them, in bright red, and also point out where it said so on the back of the maps. I don't recall anyone getting militant on me about it, though.

Actually, I rethought my numbers. Because of the way I do it, my problem guests in this come to about one in a thousand.

Usually, if I do have a problem guest, I just become a little louder about it and get the people around us involved. Just like getting on their side, this technique is amazing in its effectiveness.

This story reminds me of an incident that happened to me at DTD, right outside Sosa's..

I had walked outside after lighting up a Fuente Between the Lines (an expensive cigar for those who don't recognize the name).. and a woman similar to the OP's asks me in a very sarcastic tone "Do you MIND?".. I looked back at her and boyfriend/husband/SO, smiled and replied.. " No... I don't mind at all!" I gave her "escort" a look as if "don't even think about it" (being 6'2" / 275 helps), and they just grumbled under their breath and left...

Keep in mind this is in front of a cigar store...

If you like non-smoking areas you might try Mesa Az. The only places you can smoke are 'in' your own house or in your backyard.

Of course you all know I smoke,but 'never' in non-smoking areas.

I recently found a hand held smoke machine on a DJ supply website. I toyed briefly with buying it and taking it around some places in Downtown. Just to see if anyone questions me.
