Like I say, I'm not handicapped, and anyway, with the budget impasse, don't think I'd get anything anyhow. I'm looking and writing down potential rooms to rent, with a cap of $600 a month, utilities included, pets allowed, own bath, females only.

I was able to finish the housework today, no headaches, just low energy.

Was over on AARP looking for any programs I qualified for, and there's one for learning new job skills; I'll have to give that a closer look.

Here's a song I love, it's so beautiful and a comfort no matter what I'm going through.

That should bring up the Three Tenors singing "You'll Never Walk Alone."

In the Garden

Someday you may meet Brother Robert Cole who once was a singer in Hawaii and now runs a mission on skid row. He sings this song from his heart and it is so lovely. How great thou art. Alan Jackson is the best I could find. It should be sung by a deep bass like Brother Cole.

FelineFan, I am sincerely sorry to hear your mother passed. You have many friends here on The SGT porch. Please remember we care & want to help you. I have a few leads & names I can pm when I get files out. Do not give up on SSI. Sometimes it may take 2 or 3xs, yet, I've seen someone apply after the death of a father & their case was opened within a week. The actual benefits took 3 months but the SSI check was retroactive. Pretty nice sum came to the gal who needed it most. If you need anything - I will sure try to help. Will buy Tripod her food for sure. You take good care of yourself because YOU ARE IMPORTANT!

Thanks everyone. I'm focusing on eating as much of the food as I can, and using up as much of the toiletries I can--the less I have to pack, the better. Still looking at rooms to rent; my sisters will be back on Saturday to pick up more things, I wish I knew how long it will be before I get mom's life insurance, it was supposed to be $1500. At least that can get me in a place. I also, just in case, wrote down some low-income apartments, but really think a room would be better; I saw only a few ads on Craigslist that required a background check/credit check/certain level of credit score (I don't know what mine is; whenever I check, something goes wrong and I never get it.).

So, you're saying I can get SSI even if I'm not handicapped?

It is possible.

Hun do not eat so much that you cannot go out the door. Storage is cheap and I can help you get a cheap one if you need that. There are options that you have not heard of but may come around. I hope some of the wiser people here can come up with some help. Remember us and we are here but it is not fair that she feeds Tripod and I feed you. I wanted to feed the dog and pet it, lol.

I send you beans, mexicorn, cornbread, organic hot dogs and diet coke for dinner along with lots of love and hugs and snugs and warm wishes and prayers.

Laurie

I checked out SSI; it says you have to be 65 or older, or blind, or disabled to get it. I am none of those. I checked out other stuff on AARP, but most of their sites for jobs for people my age are either in fields I'm not in, or they are for people older than me. They need more stuff for those of us below 55. Otherwise, why bother opening membership to people 50 years old if you have to wait until 55, 60, 65 to get these benefits?

I bought milk and cat food today; my sister says if I need anything let her know, but I needed to get out of the apartment for a bit. Besides, there are things I prefer to buy for myself. I don't know if my sister has the patience to check the cans of cat food for classic pate style in Friskies, because the other kinds Tripod just eats the gravy and not much of the meat.

I do have quite a bit of food, it's just I may have to be a bit creative in using it up. What's gonna be hard is the butter; and I can't face having grilled cheese sandwiches every day for a month. I can finish the open pack of cheese slices, and the butter in the dish, but somebody's going to have to take at least the pound of butter in the freezer and the sealed pack of cheese slices in the fridge. I'll see when my sisters come over tomorrow to get more of mom's stuff. I figured out a way to use up the money left on the SmartCard for laundry; today I did three loads, next week I can wash and dry two loads, but the week after that I'll wash two loads, then put both loads into one dryer. Anything still damp I can run a piece of string across the patio and hang the stuff on it to dry; I'm sure I still have my clothespins from when I had my own apartment.

The only problem with sending me money is that I don't have a bank account, and my area doesn't exactly have a check cashing place on every corner. You'd have to send either gift cards for grocery stores or cash in money holders or something. And I'd have to get them before the end of March. Just something to think about. :)

I could meet you at 7-11 or DLR or some place you wish to meet to hand you the money. I use butter or olive oil as it is better than margarine. If you need I have an old dryer and a good washer. Maybe in March someone could get you into DLR on a CM thing and I would buy you a hot dog and chips and pop and then for lunch we could have cheeseburgers at Hungry Bear or Taste Pilot.

I am looking at the first which would be tight or the 8th to go back to DLR. If you need I can still on the third give you $100 if that will help in any way. There are options but who knows what tomorrow holds. Sending you hugs and chocolates and prayers for a better future. ;)

My sisters and one niece and nephew were here, and we went through a lot of stuff. Mom's funeral is the 16th of March. In a little bit I'll be contacting the places I found on Craigslist on rooms for rent. My sister suggested I also look for a live-in situation. Any events will have to wait until April, after I've settled into my new place. There's still more stuf that has to go, but I have an aunt coming in from Wyoming for the funeral and she'll be staying with me.
PM me if you want my current address if you decide to send anything. Remember I have to be out of here by March 31st.

Contact the bueau of Census as they will be hiring big time for next year and you could get a job now in theory, I worked with them in 1980 and 1990 and they hired anything even sleepers and half dead people.

Felinefan pm me.
There are possibilites which we cannot see but keep up your faith. God will provide. He does not drop a new car in your yard but will do things like lead you to a job. Faith is a Victory and I will hold up one arm and maybe someone here silently will take the other and we will get you through this.

Well, I went through five boxes of my stuff from the one storage room on our patio, along with half my closet today. I tried to contact the ads from Craigslist, but they use Outlook, which my computer doesn't seem to get along with. Finally discovered that they changed servers, so I tried to load and install the new one, but it didn't work; there appears to be no other way to contact these people. I need to have a definate address so I can change my mailing address for forwarding purposes. Okay, I don't get alot of mail, but just in case....

Okay, Churchy, I'll PM you.
