Yup! For a good time, hand a bowling ball to a Marine and tell him not to break it. Fun for the whole family! (assuming your family is somewhat warped and immune to obscenity).hobie16 wrote:Where there's a will, there's a way.

Our local police department came up with the grease situation. They were sick and tired of coming out to my complex. After hearing that there was grease being attached to the upper walls, the crime rate dropped completely. Now these days who ever has a car broken into, the sherrif comes out and dusts it for finger prints. The last break in was caused by a SG residence and he did end up staying in jail because this was his strike against him.

I'm sorry, but Ms. Matterhorn, Spelling Nazi, just can't stand it anymore! It's barbed wire, or barb wire! It's not wire invented by some guy named Bob! Okay, it's just one of my quirks! Deal with it! :mad:turkeyham wrote:In my condo complex, the last security company put slippery grease under the bobwire fences.

It was invented by Louis Jannin in 1865. Interestingly, bob or bobbed wire is a dialect form of barbed wire. Here's the quote.Ms. Matterhorn wrote:I'm sorry, but Ms. Matterhorn, Spelling Nazi, just can't stand it anymore! It's barbed wire, or barb wire! It's not wire invented by some guy named Bob! "Barbed wire, also known as barb wire (and frequently in dialect form spelled bob or bobbed), is a type of fencing wire constructed with sharp edges or points arranged at intervals along the strand(s). It is used to construct inexpensive fences and is used atop walls surrounding secured property. It is also a major feature of the fortifications in trench warfare (as a wire obstacle)."

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Re: Why do people have to trespass in roped-off areas??
I remember back in the 60s, I was reading an issue of Life magazine, and they had a feature on new weapons for police in dealing with rioters. If you're not old enough to remember the 60s, there were alot of protests, some violent, for women's rights, anti-war, racial equality, etc.. The three new weapons were the riot tank, which blasted protesters with extremely loud sirens as well as tear gas; liquid mace, which is still in use, though somewhat supplanted by pepper spray; and what was referred to as "Instant Banana Peel". It was a powder that was sprinkled on pavement in front of an approaching pack of protesters, then wetted down with firehoses. Standing on it, never mind walking or running on it, would cause one to hit the ground instantly, as it was super-slippery. The riot tank is sometimes still used, though mostly overseas, from what I've seen lately; whatever became of Instant Banana Peel, I wonder? That would be great for keeping SGs off forbidden areas.

Thanks for the correct on spelling the word. I wonder where you get the banana powder? That made me think, that stuff would be good for the high speed chases out here in CA. When the suspect makes a run for it, we would not make it to far. ;)
