Sad to say, but it happens all the time.

Guest drives baby in stroller up to Space Mountain, parks baby and stroller, goes in to ride, CM walks up a few minutes later to move strollers aside and finds that one still has a baby inside, waits with baby for security to arrive, guest shows up and tries to get mad at CM for not letting them do whatever they want.

I was just at Disney World and noticed the signs that said "Children under age 7 must be accompanied by an adult." at park entry.

IMO that is way too young. I have a child that will be 7 in a few months and I can't imagine sending her into a theme park by herself. I was surprised that Disney policy allowed unattended children so young. But after reading these stories maybe they just figured it was a losing battle, but I'm still surprised they'd allow it for liability reasons.

I was wondering if that age policy was intended for families who might send in children with teenage siblings. Would the cast just ignore a 7 yr old wandering around the park by themselves?

I think this is more designed for the attractions. I know here at Disneyland, any child under 7 must have a responsible party with them to ride on an attraction, that can be an older brother or sister (depending on how much older). I don't think a CM would ignore a 7 year old wondering by themselves, but if they don't seem distressed or lost, they may not notice them.

I dunno, after my visit to Epcot the other day I can see why some kids get ditched. I just posted it at Board X, here's the synopsis: Kid in singles line on Test Track who starts out by commanding everyone on what they should do in the pre-show room (which they ignored...it was dead, so both sets of doors were open and everyone was just in a line). He was in the back of my car and proceeded to narrate in excrutiating deal, literally to the point of, "We're starting now. They're going to check our seat belts. They're going to look at your seat belt. Now we're going up a hill. Now we're going down a hill. Now we're going to go over those blocks and the car is going to bounce." Ugh! The best was in the crash test room when he kept yelling, "You have to hold on! We're going to hit the wall! You have to hold on!" and everyone was just ignoring him. If he were my kid, I wouldn't just ditch him at WDW. I'd take him to Montana or whatever state it is where you can ditch your kid with no penalty, dump him out of the car, and drive away fast.

I believe it's Nebraska. . . just in case you need to ditch a kid.

Except that the changed it, after having a LOT of kids under the age of 18 dropped off from other states. Now it is like most of the other states, newborns only.

How do you get rid of them after they're 18?

Kick them out of course. Although many parents have a problem with this for some reason.
