Stupid Guest Tricks

HaHa,I LOVE the lizard story! reminds me of my brother's wife who curled into a fetal position on top of the couch after calling my mom on the phone about a tiny little lizard in the house :ROFL:
We are surrounded by lizards here in my town, I love the little cuties- (I think a lot of them are the endangered fringe-toed lizards). A lot of them set up camp in my garage, which I love cuz they eat the waterbugs. :D:

Many of these people that are afraid of "wildlife" are totally oblivious to all the wild life living with and around them at home. Even the newest, tightest, cleanest stucture on the planet has all sorts of critters living in the corners and hidden spaces. And that comment about being close to WDW and they should control the wildlife better was hilarious. Being NEAR Disney isn't IN Disney. They have no responsability to extend any influence over their environment outside their borders. Next even IN Disney they don't do much to "control the wildlife". I have seen, in or next to common guest areas (and thus high traffic) the following: several common house mice, 2 black rat snakes (one of which napped on a roadway last Oct an brought th entire bus transport system on Ft Wilderness to a standstill), A corn snake (the one that almost looks like the deadly coral snake...at least I think that I got the id right, several alligators (of all sizes and ages and all were reported to cm and subsequently relocated, but they were within site of many free wandering toddlers), numerous armadillos, rabbits, deer, peacocks, geese, ducks, anoles (the tiny lizzards) and herons. And I still contend that the most dangerous critter, left to wander around the property, isn't even discouraged from infesting the property. HUMANS!

We saw five wild turkeys strutting their stuff by the little walkway from the parking lot to TTC - totally unperturbed by everything around them. My kids think the wildlife is an added bonus - rabbits, ducks, lizards, frogs -they love them all!

Like Randy said Disney doesn't even have control over wildlife in their parks let alone elsewhere. Ducks pretty much own the Magic Kingdom, especially in the morning. They are everywhere in that park. I've seen rabbits and all kinds of birds. I've heard of snakes, heck I've heard of the lazy river at the water parks having to be cleared until wildlife control could arrive due to a snake in the water.

There are gators in the rivers around the MK. I've heard of ones having to be relocated or killed for living in the Rivers of America, making them a threat. Gators also live in the river that flows behind the park (the green one seen from the train). My understanding is that sometimes they'll come up and investigate the steam being dumped into the river during the morning tests of the safety devices on the trains (the spur line goes right over the river).

All of the water and dropped food make the Disney parks attractive to many animals. The ducks aren't even afraid of humans. Yesterday I saw a mama duck lead her baby through and around the tables outside of Casey's and they were eating the crumbs people dropped. I've seen and heard of ducks getting in the way of parades, both before they start and are moving into position backstage and during the parade itself. The other day I saw two ducks wander into a somewhat crowded City Hall.

Here is my Crazy Guest story (at least I don't think I was stupid!):

It was late evening in summer, back when ToonTown Fair really was a fair with animals. My family and I were walking on that wonderful path by the railroad tracks that goes from ToonTown to Tomorrowland. It was dark, but the glow from the overhead lamps provided enough light to see our way. I was holding my daughters hand with the rest of the family following when I stepped on a hose - at least I thought it was a hose until I felt it move. I looked down to see a 4 foot long black rat snake under my foot. So I did what any normal person would do - I reached down and picked it up (What? You would not have done that? I guess there are different kinds of normal!:D :) . Now I'm an old Boy Scout and have kept snakes for years, so this seemed more like a treat to me. I figured the snake had come from woods on the outer side of the tracks. My fear was letting it loose to be found by some irrational guest or CM that equates 'see snake' with 'kill snake'. I looked around and noticed a light was on in the barn where the wonderful cow 'Mickey Moo' was kept, so I went over and knocked. A young gal opened the door, I lifted the snake and said "Did y'all loose this?" She startled, but to her credit quickly regained her composure and said, "No, but let me get you someplace to put it." She found an empty plastic trash can that carried food for Moo, and I dropped in the snake. We capped it, and she thanked me say she would call to Discovery Island (the wildlife encounter before Animal Kingdom), and they would take care of it. While my wife was aghast that I would do this, my kids still talk about it and a remember it fondly. So while walking the back paths at night, be mindful of your step!

Did you ever see the commercials that showed the dust mite "family" living in your mattress?

Wonder how many new ones they sold to people like that?

I guess those people have never been really camping! (and I mean NO trailers!)

What I like is the flock of ducks that swim in the World Showcase Lagoon near Mexico. At 9:00 every night (9:30 in late November and December) when IllumiNations goes off they check their watches, say, "Yes, it is on time", and go paddling around ignoring the fireworks and explosions around them.

LOL...We saw them. I think they were on vacation in Norway that day. :)

DW and I always say "hi" to the ducks around the Poly!
