If it happens at a Disney park its world news. I read this first thing this morning on-line. I wondered how 4 people got hurt getting out of the truck but a later story said only one needed to go to the hospital and she jumped out of the truck. I'm guessing she panicked a bit, too many movie cars blowing up.

I know that through much of KS the animals are not able to get to the guests, Disney just hides this very well. I'm going to guess that many of the animals are very used to people being around and unless someone does something stupid (go figure a guest doing something stupid) they wont pay too much attention. My first thought when I read the first news story that said the CM got the vehicle to a safe area and evacted was that the CM was on the ball, didnt panick and did a great job of handling the situation.

I've dealt with a lot of vehicle fires with almost 20 years in the towing industry and I know that other than old VW bugs/busses/corvettes that burn really well it often takes a bit of work to get a car burning really good. Most of the burn jobs I have seen are intentional and someone has added an accellerent such as gas to get the car burning good. I'm guessing the CM used the fire extingisher thats on the truck to put the fire out before the FD got there. Really, unless its a good fuel leak its not going to far, we have used the same chassis in out tow trucks for more than 10 years now, we had one catch on fire some years ago, it was a fuel leak. My driver panicked and drove the truck onto the sidewalk and did more damage than the fire. I hope the bosses give the CM a pat on the back for a job well done.

News organizations crack me up. Anything to get someone to "tune in"....
Leave it to fox news, Fair and balanced my butt!!! LOL! I guess CNN isn't any better. What's next "Disney Bans Children from all restaurants" for the V&A policy. "Disney preaches evolution by creating a dinosaur themed restaurant!" LOL! Whatever gets the ratings... ;)

That's the problem right there. The news organizations are more concerned with what gets them better ratings than reporting the news.

Ha ha, I just went to Fox. They've changed it to a small fire on all their articles. That's funny.

Safari has reopened, right?

Also, any details on exactly what happened, more than just some hose burst?

From what I understand of the bus fleet, the 2700 series are pretty much the dregs of the fleet. At Safaris, the 40's series is the same. From what I understand, it was a 40's truck, but probably one of the better ones, as compared to the other 40's trucks. (Still not a great truck when compared to some of the others in the fleet).

Yes, Safari was open today.

They should have let the truck burn, moved it near the Rhino's, put some trample marks on it from the Rhino's and made it part of the tour :)

I'm guessing the CM was telling the guests not to jump, but in every crowd there has to be somebody with hysterical deafness who doesn't hear, plus exaggerates everything way out of proportion, thus the jump from the truck.

As for the burned and trampled truck idea, you should have the CM say, "That's what happened to the last group where someone's five year old stood up and screamed OMG! at every animal she saw." Or whatever guest problem they're experiencing.

that, and taking a cue from Mythbusters, drape a few "dummies' around the vehicle, with the appropriate number of vultures!!!

That's mighty suspicious!

Many CSI plot lines have used facts like these to put the "perp" away. Keep an eye out, BW, The CSI:WDW team may be coming for you soon.
