I probably should do the same thing. ;)

The story with the pixie dust goes like this. It was the first week that the Store was open- this was only like the 8th DS in the whole country at the time. I don't know who thought it was a great idea, but they sold little glass bottles of 'pixie dust' glitter complete with Tink on the label.

I was greeting and this woman comes up to me with a child about the age of four. She says "Now this nice Disney Lady will tell you why you can't use this pixie dust to fly!" and she looks at me as if to say "You're on!"

Now, I'm flashing back in my head to the time I found a black feather in the backyard and thought I could fly like Dumbo. I launched from the top of the basement stairs and unfortunately, my sister just missed catching me as I hit the cement floor.

No stitches were required or anything, and to this day I've no ill effects from the flight at all! :odie:

Now I return to the moment thinking I don't want this little princess to try it off a higher location and really do some damage. So I stammer. . .

"It's. . . used."

"Used?" asks adorable little girl.

"Yes, it's, like, imported from Neverland and it's been used already. So it's only pretty to look at, but you CAN NOT fly with it!"

The mother was satisfied, the little girl promised me she'd remember- and soon after that we stopped settling bottles of pixie dust. Go figure.

That's great! I love it.

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

Unhappy person. Unhappy life. Taking out all his/her unhappiness on everyone else, cause it is sooooooo not his/her own fault. Riiiiight!

OH NO....The CMs are not allowed to have a place to vent, oh no...they are not even supposed to be human! They are all audioanimatronics and they are programmed to be nice ALL the time, didn't you all get the memo? ;)

I have yet to come across a rude or nasty CM, maybe one who was having a hectic day and may have been a little less than magic, BUT, I always go out of my way to smile at them amd try to make their day a little better and cheer them up. It crosses my mind, (once in a while ;) ) that you all are human beings too and at some point the heat, the crowds the noise, the overstimulation of the senses IS going to get to you at some point. I always tell all the CMs I meet, "Your job may be to make magic for us, but it is our job to make magic for you!" The CMs are always amazed when I tell them that.

And after handing out Hero CM stickers and Cast Appreciation Cards this last trip, the looks were so worth giving them out. Every CM who got one was happy and surprised, and had a look of amazement and joy that I loved to see. I got so many hugs and many CMs were just incredulous that someone would go to the trouble to give these out. They LOVED them! I will continue to hand them out and make magic for CMs, to make up for all the jags they have to put up with everyday.

It is weird how people see the CMs. It is almost like they don't see the human being in the costume. I am talking of the service CMs here mostly. Entertainment CMs who have really special costumes and characters are in a role that does not allow them to be who they are.
I see CMs in stores and restaurants get treated with such dismissiveness as if they are slaves or indentured servants without a personality. It is weird to watch. But I am an avid people watcher and I see it so often, that they are treated as less than human. Strange that so many don't *see* the human being there. The characters and Parade and show performers have a different rerlationship with the guest, but even then, they still get less than respectful treatment from some. I don't understand how people can go on vacation and treat other human beings so poorly, those people who are there to make the trip a good one for them and who go out of their way to make things special.. Especially adults who KNOW better and that the magic of Disney is a creation and in trying to make it the best for THEIR child, they lose all sense of good manners and compassion, in the name of getting their magic. Makes no sense to me.

The only thing I can come up with, is that Disney has set such HIGH expectations for guests, that NO ONE could possibly live up to the magic the way it is depicted in their commercials and vacation literature. All of the pictures show PERFECTION and this is NOT a perfect world. Perhaps, some go with this high expectation that their trip will be EXACTLY like they see on the commercial or in the brochures and travel material and the reality is that it is NOT going to be walk on attractions and Mickey Mouse skipping down Main Street with your kid. It is going to be long lines and cranky, hungry and wet children who are screaming because they are tired. Expectations are too high, because Disney offers an unrealistic goal to reach for most. Maybe people should be a little more realistic about life, even Disney is real life, not a fantasy world. It just offers you a place to get away from the more harsh realities of life for a bit.... :)

As far as treatment of people, I always treat ALMOST everyone the way I want to be treated, except those people who have a special warm corner of Hell just waiting for them with their name on it.....

There is yet ANOTHER thread at another board X that is talking about WDW CMs attitudes. There are many who love you all and there are some who will ALWAYS complain no matter what. These are the ones who complain about their magic being ruined or that they paid yadda, yadda, yadda to be here and you are supposed to be their personal slave. Thank God there are more good guests than bad. And if someone has a problem about you venting about stupid guests, it may be that they see themselves in some of the stories here and are embarrassed and ticked that they got called on their bad behavior. Those who protesteth the most.....

We love you and will always come back to make magic for you too!

Oh, and I posted the link to the site for the Cast Appreciation Cards on many boards and the response was underwhelming. I guess many people don't think that they need to put out a small gesture of appreciation to the CMs when they do something nice. **shakes head sadly** There were a few folks who LOVED the idea and will use it as well. They *get* it! Oh well, that makes them even more special when you get them, because then you know you are getting one from someone who truly cares about you! Right? And I hope that I can bring just a little fraction of the magic and smiles and laughter and joy that you give us when we are in your Original Magic Kingdom, Little Sister Magic Kingdom ;) , EPCOT, Studio or Animal Kingdom!!!!
You WILL know when you have met the infamous Susi and Ralph! You will be smiling and chuckling for a while afterwards. ;)

Don't set yourself up for disappointment!! people (SG's!) will never change, as they don't believe they are wrong!! When they try and misuse tickets or Fastpasses, to the attitude toward the CM's, to the disregard for rules and regulations that have been established for safety!

It seems like the SG's have to be booted out, or be told they will be expelled to get their attention!

Even then, I really doubt that they believe they have done anything wrong!!

Thats why I have made it here, where REASONABLE guests can make comments and talk about fun things (Flying Bongos?)

Knowing that the other boards X,Y, and Z exist, I have visited a lot of them, and I really don't believe that there is any onfo there, that I cannot get by myself, with a phone call to WDW, or a question to the CM's here!!

That is so true. And they think they know it all, that is the most entertaining part. . .

I like it here. Here is where I plan to park my pixie-dusted self and stay awhile :)
