While we have several shared loadzones at DTD it seems strange that the one loadzone we have the most problems with is #3 CoPo/SSR with #2 the Epcot 5 being second.(but I can somewhat understand this one as we do run them either together or seperate depending on time of day)

Could it be the clientelle at the Contemporary, Poly and SSR are the types to never use public transportation? Perhaps they are country bumpkins or soccor moms in minivans who are showing that they have (think they have) more money than brains, can afford to stay at an "exclusive" Disney resort and then feel that they are entitled to anything and everything. When things don't go their way, the first thing they do is complain to a manager, hoping to get their way.

BTW: Getting back on topic, I had a quiet word with a manager that I trusted about our dolt in post 1. He will seek out and counsel her.

We own at SSR and we always walk from DTD because everytime we get a bus from there it seems like one of the SG's on the bus has some sort of issue with something.

PS- I was a single mom for a while and took ALOT of public transportation, so I acquired my brains BEFORE I acquired my money, although I don't have either one in abundance. :D:

Seriously....people don't listen. If I got on the wrong bus, DH and I would make fun of me the entire remainder of the trip, not raise hell with the driver for not knowing I was an idiot. ;) I would, however, have a problem with a driver reading a book while the bus was moving.

As one whos family owns farm land, who currently lives across the road from a corn field, with fields to eaither side that they just moved the horses and cattle off of, I can call myself a country bumpkin.

Actually us country bumpkins are more likely to listen to you because we don't automatically assume we know where you are going. But those who use Mass Transit regularly, in a place where every bus stop with more than one bus route has seperate stops for each bus, ass-u-me they know it all. Or People from large urban areas are sometimes more accustomed to taxis than busses. They assume that if they get in a transport it will take them directly to their destination with no extra stops or possibility of not getting where they are going due to getting on the wrong bus. :D: Because of many experiences with the WDW bus system, I realize that one stop may list many destinations but they may or may not be the same bus. So I tend to mention my intended destination as I enter the bus so that I can be corrected if I have chosen the wrong bus. In fact I have advised many people on other forums that, when getting on a bus, it never hurts to ask the driver as they are the ultimate authority of where they are going and not going. :)

Of course there are also those who are so wrapped up in the voices in their own head (or the voices of their family members or traveling companions) that your voice is just one more annoying buzz, lost in the noise. :D:

The times I have the most problems are morning, when I am not really awake yet and my brain is stuck in low idle, and night, when I am exhausted from unaccustomed exersize and overwhelmed from sensory overload. In either case I have been known to be running on auto pilot and actual thinking takes a powerful force of will that I just don't have at that moment. I guess walking zombie is a pretty close estimate of my condition at those times.

Come to think of it the signage at the load zones may be partly to blame. They list several stops but the way they are written it is easy to assume that all the stops listed are stops on a single route. So if FtW and the Contemp and the WL are all listed, we may assume that when you announce Wilderness Lodge that the single route will also include the Contemp and Ft Wilderness which you didn't announce. Maybe between all of us we could come up with a better signage that allows the reader to realize that these listed stops may be (or may not be) on seperate busses.

I too, feel that I can call myself a country bumpkin, please don't take offense at the term. The most animals that we had in our managerie at one time was 8 sheep, 28 rabbits and 2 dogs. I also know how to navigate on public transportation (in Boston, no less). Before I became a CM, I never had any of the issues that I see from SG's now. If I thought a sign was confusing, I asked a CM and when giveen an answer, I did not argue with them to get the answer that I wanted. When the driver tells you where the bus is going, it does behove you to believe him. He is usually right.

I tell guests as ther are boarding where we are going, then tell them with the PA before leaving the loadzone. If you still stay on my bus after this, don't come up to me later and tell me that you are on the wrong bus and I need to take you where you want to go. In fact I have got to the point at DTD to tell SG's that I am going to the campground, not I am going to Fort Wilderness. SG's hear Wilderness and assume that I ment Wilderness Lodge. New signs won't help. SG's don't read signs!!!!!

I think I mastered public transportation when I was able to get around Tokyo via their massive train system and never got lost :)

PLZ Cranz, keep us updated on any results of your conversation with the manager. People like that should not be driving a scooter, let alone a bus.

It's interesting, too, that I've seen more and more bus drivers with cell phones with earpieces while driving. I know of why one driver does it... his daughter has cancer (or something like that) and he only uses it if there is something bad that happens... but for the most part, it completely infuriorates me to see this, as it is such incredibly bad show, as well as a safety hazard for most people. While I can separate my driving from my talking on the phone, I don't answer the phone while I am driving except in rare cases from certain individuals.

But never, ever, ever on the bus does my cell phone become visible. And even less often than never, ever, ever do I talk on it when in guest view.

The sad part is that that makes me one of a dying breed...

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Here is a problem which you might want to look at. The poster is the other moderator of disABILITIES, is a nurse, and her 20yo daughter has multiple disabilities and has used a power chair since age 3.

Cheshire Figment that is so not right. I used to do Disney boards, sigh but no time or health for them.

I would have had a hissy fit if someone did not care about safety. That is a big SCMT and he should be retrained or fired.

I replied to Sue Ellen. That was totally unacceptable. Because I was working that night and I do listen to the radio (a novel idea in bus ops) I do know that the bus was sent to FIW to be inspected and the driver was summoned to the coordinators office.

Unfortunately, nothing will happen to the driver.
