I'd love to be a fly on the wall in that house, when daddy explains to mommy how the kid's head got split open.DLRFantasmic!Dan wrote:Yup, another FINE example of parenting decision making at work! The child will probably have traumatic experience when she grows up.
SD: "Yea, well, that Disney person wouldn't let me into that Fast Track lane, so I had to step over the chain."
SM: "Why didn't you just move the chain?"
SD: "Next time I will."

I'd like to see signs on the chains that read "Stupid people, climb over this chain". People DO read the signs, they just act like it doesn't apply to them (I.E. they're among the people allowed into the area). But who'd climb over a sign INVITING stupid people? They'd be admitting who/what they are, and they wouldn't want to be seen by others doing it.DLRFantasmic!Dan wrote:So apparently one night when getting off my shift, I was walking through Tomorrowland to go home for the night. It was past park closing when I walked past the Astro Orbitor and realized that the queue hasn't been closed yet, so being a nice CM, I closed it. When I finished closing the line to Astro I then saw two leads, the Buzz Lead and the HISTA lead in the Buzz queue, I think, with CFA. So later, I learned that an elderly lady wanted to go on Buzz, so she hopped the chains and broke it and paralyzed half her body. Serves her right.
Imagine other guests saying, "See son - there goes a stupid guy now, climbing over his chain!" :twisted:

The problem with SG's is that they know that nobody that they see on this vacation they will never see again. So they do things that provide instant gratification and never worry about the consequences.
Just like you see mom's, dad's and teens in clothing that they would not be caught dead in badk home.
Therefore a sign inviting SG's to do something will not cause them to think twice, they will just do what they want.

At univ. it was apparently an "OSHA req. " to have breakaway clips on all the chains. Let me tell you. ROFL. These plastic clips were put together to make the last link of the chain and then you would put it on the pole and then have the clip part of the metal chain clip onto the plastic white link.
The purpose was to break away in the even that a guest was running to get out of danger (ie: fire) the chain would break, allowing the person to pass, and not stop them, trip them and make them break their neck. Well, that was the plan. EVERY SINGLE TIME some one would sit or even put 10 lbs of weight on chain, it would... break..... Step over the chain to avoid walking to the end or the loop and back.. SNAP.. DING! chain on the floor...
When the people would sit on them, they would break with in 10 seconds. Large, 200lb people.. crashing to the ground, land on the feet of toddlers. That was a brilliant idea!
Now, I never saw these clips at any other place in the park other than rides. Nor, did I see it at other parks.
I would tell people to get off the chains (adults) and they looked at me like "I know what I am doing, go away".
One time, A chain wasn't on a break away. But that didn't stop SG from having a seat.
Me : ma'm please don't sit on the chain, for your safety
SG: [ nothing]
me : Ma'm please don't sit, the chains can't support weight, it will break and you will fall.
sg: "well I have a good idea when something is about to break so I will get up before it falls"
me: { thinnking; Uhhhh.. what do I say now?. I begin to walk away... no I think. I go back and say}
No I'm sorry, you NEED to get off, you can't sit there.
{she moves, I leave}
I come back. Guess who is sitting down again?
