Hey guys, I've missed you...
Re: Hey guys, I've missed you...
Bru, you're my hero. I don't think I could've made it through the things you've had to endure alone. Keep your chin up, lady, get well, and hang in there, baby.

Been thinking about you all weekend. HEAL! Then, help Dad heal..ok?
I'm tryin, Nota, I'm tryin! It's just so frustrating that my immune system has let me down once again when I needed it most.
My sweet husband went after working from early early this morning and made the long trek out to the hospital to see Dad- he said he's very depressed. We warned the nurses that he's not 'himself' so to speak- he wrote a note to my husband that he thought he was dying earlier in the day but that he felt better this evening- I wonder if he's having panic attacks on top of everything else? I know he was having one at the first hospital after his initial trach was put in and they almost gave him Ativan (I mean, who wouldn't panic with all that going on with your body?) the poor man!
He's used to being healthy as a horse all his life- this new and major disability and health crisis is all different for him.
He said his pain medication was better tonight- my husband said his swelling was really bad but that is another 'to be expected' I have to tell you guys, I don't think I would ever submit to having this surgery. I just don't think I could do it after seeing what he's going through.
Felinefan, you're sweet but I'm no hero- I'm hanging on by my fingernails at best and just trying to 'gut up' as Dr. Phil would say, and keep going.
I just wish my stupid body would keep up with me.
Thanks again for the continued thoughts and prayers- especially for my dad. Btw, his name is Bill.
hugs
Bru

dearest bru, it sounds as if things are coming along...take good care of yourself...your dad is going to need you...the more positive you can be the better the outcome for your dad (he'll be more positive too and, hopefully, so will the other people around him ie other family members)...you've probably worn yourself down to a nub and no wonder you're ill...
know you and your dad have been very much on my mind...wishing you all comfort and peace in these very trying days...and very warm HUUUUUGGGGGGGGSSSSSSSSSSSS

Hey Bru, sorry to come back from my own surgical adventures to hear yours and your dad's was so much worse, but I did think of you and still am lifting you up in prayer. May the Lord bring you and your dad peace and relief.

Sorry I haven't updated in so long guys...this week has been really hard but....but...DAD GOT HIS STITCHES and his NG tube out TODAY!!!!!
He ate applesauce *balling my eyes out*
The poor man went 12 days with nothing by mouth (I think it's 12 days right? surgery was the 19th. anyway...) he had chicken broth and tea and the surgeon said he could not believe how amazingly well he looked less than 2 weeks after surgery!
He's supposed to come home from the rehab facility on friday if all goes to plan...his swelling was much better today by reports and also, you'd be so proud of me...my family pushed every conceivable button and it took me physically removing myself from a room at one point so I would not cave in...but my MOM went with my dad to his follow up appointment today! They both rode in the medical transfer van from the rehab place back to U of M and guess what...nobody died!!! My mother said, and I quote, "I decided to do it (february's) way." Did hell freeze over last night ? I haven't checked CNN today.
I don't know what I'd have done without you all, all this time in fact I told Dad the other day that all my "Disney friends from the CM board" (I've read him posts here before and told him all about you in the past) have been sending their well wishes and you should have seen the smile. He loves CM's so much after all of our trips to WDW and I think he's beginning to realize that he may yet once again visit main street. Okay I'm crying again now at the thought.
Thanks to everybody for all their support and thanks to Susi for the sweet offers to listen over the phone they are much appreciated thing is I can never get the phone to stop ringing around here so for me, the board is the best place for me to keep in touch with you all.
Have to run housework still to do tonight...but wanted to say thank you again to everybody and let you know the wonderful news!
love
Bru
PS oh! And dad changed his mind apparently and is considering doing the radiation...they are going back to the ENT surgeon/Oncologists office in two weeks to discuss it again. they say they want to start it in about a month...

Glad to hear that dad is doing well. And you my strong friend! Look at you! You are handling it so well. I am glad you did not let the family get to you. And with your mom coming around, that is good. Maybe she was just in so much shock she could not do anything before?
Sounds like you can get some much needed rest from the whole thing, that dad is doing great and that mom is stepping up now!
I am still sending prayers and hugs to you everyday!
With love for you! :)
