If candied bacon martinis are possible anything can happen.

Susi, I may have told you this last year, but over at http://www.catchannel.com , they have message boards, and one of them is for Pet Loss. It's free to join, but it's a great site for kitty lovers like us. I agree, Orion was a handsome kitty-boy.

Thanks for that referral. I went to a pet loss board for a long time, but many people there were more interested in blaming their vets for not saving their 19yr old cat with heart failure. The Vet couldn't, but the owner blamed the Vet anyway. I could not stay there, because most would not accept that the Vet did nothing wrong and a 19 yr old cat has had a LONG life and they will go at some point if they reach that mark.
So many posters thought the Vets were responsible for not saving their animals and I could not agree with that. I know there are some cases where that could be true, but not everyone. I never once blamed our Veterinarian. He cried with us when he gave us the diagnosis and cried with us when we went to see him after Orion had passed. He was unable to guide Orion to the other side due to his contract with the Vet Hospital he works at and we wanted Orion to be at home. Dr. Santen was unable to come to a home to help our kitty and gave us the name of a wonderful Vet who did come.

Maybe I will try the boards you recommend. There has to be somewhere to share this grief and have others like me understand that even after a year it still feels like yesterday.
I am doing a bit better today, I can look at his picture and smile. It comes and goes.
Thanks so much for the referral to the Catchannel. :)

You always have this board as they seem to be nice people who understand how you feel. You had a handsome cat and I keep thinking of Orion from Men in Black. Cherish the memories. I hope you can find a pet grief group that will cherish the pet memories instead of blaming the vets who too often work long hours trying to save pets.

Thank you Churchy, that is why I come here. My friends are here. You all have been my family for so long that I could not imagine going anywhere else to share things.

Orion from MIB...heeheehee with a galaxy around his neck! Our Orion had a whole galaxy of love for everyone. He liked to meet new people and would meow at them to say hi when they visited. He was one of a kind.
I have heard the legend that cats sometimes come back to their people in other cat bodies. I have had people tell me they "know" that their beloved cat has returned to them in another cat. They say the new cat has the exact mannerisms and meow of the beloved cat they lost. I don't know if it is true or not, but I heard about it a long time ago. If it were true....Wow!

Though any cat that we bring home in the future will be their own cat. We will bring more furry friends home. I know my Tawny is getting up there, she is 16 this year and is on meds for High Blood Pressure and her kidneys are starting to show signs of a long life of wear and tear, so I know the inevitable will come someday, sooner than I would like. Tawny is the cat of my heart. She has been with me all 16 years and has been with me through so much. I will really have a hard time when her time comes. But for now, I hug her and love her as much as I can.

And Ralph and I talk about adding to our brood. I want two kitties, and to name them Fred and Ginger! ;) I think that would be quite a pair. We have to find the right cats of course!
But if we fall in love with whatever kittys are there, I am sure we will take home the first ones we fall in love with, which in my case could be the whole shelter full of cats. I LOVE cats! If I did not have Ralphie, I would be a weird cat lady, oh wait! I AM a weird cat lady. Hahahahahahahaha..... :D:

It is very interesting that the smiley supercat is gray and we nicknamed Orion, Supacat. They knew him at the Vet Hospital as Orion Supacat. Our vets are the ones you see on TV, on Animal Planet on the Emergency Vets TV show. Dr. Santen, Dr. Fitzgerald are wonderful vets. They are incredible. Dr Santen was Uncle Santen to Orion. Orion adored him. He never really minded too much going to the vet, because he had Dr. Santen and his Tech, Jean there. They loved Orion. They were part of his family. He spent a LOT of time with them due to his multiple health problems. But he was okay because he had his Uncle Santen there and knew we always come back to get him.

The people on Catchannel are mostly good people. One person you might want to hang out with, so to speak, is vettechgirl. One person to beware of, though, is Cat-tastrophe. She holds some outdated notions about things; most of us either try to gently correct her or ignore her. Vettechgirl also has lost a dear kitty; in fact, I may be wrong, but I think her cat's name was Orion, too! So there! You have someone to talk to already over there! There's a feature where you can "adopt" a virtual cat, too. My handle over there is imtripodsmom. See you there!

My mistake, vettechgirl's late kitty wasn't named Orion, it was Leo, short for Leonardo da Vinci. I sent her a PM about you, and she seems eager to meet you. Have fun on Cat Channel.
