I read board X but rarely post, mostly because I would say things that would get me banned... no you can't ask for a free upgrade, no you can't sneak extra people in a room, no you can't use someone else's ticket and no you are not entitled to anything for free just because you're wearing a button!

I am sad but not surprised to see that they have made there way here... I mean of course you all are wrong, you only work there what would you know

I am an RN and we are not allowed to accept most gifts (I do work peds so if a child makes something, we obviously display it for everyone to see). I previously worked as an EMT and was 'tipped' often which I always politely declined and asked that they write a letter to my boss instead.

I have stopped at GR to write up special CMs before, and am glad to know of the little card trick that you guys can accept for my August trip, because well, I just stink at names! I hope they all start to learn that just because one CM says its OK, doesn't make it so. But then again, if they listened, they wouldn't be SGs and I'd have nothing to read about here!
Sounds like you've got the right attitude!

The ones that are in traditionally tipped roles, such as waiters/waitresses.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

Servers/Bartenders/Bellmen/Valets

(Aside from the already mentioned "stop at guest relations and leave a compliment", if you really want to 'thank' someone, you could choose to hand out 'thank you notes' in a sealed envelope, which would most likely not get opened until the CM had left Disney property. The sealed envelope gives them plausible deniability -- "The guest said it was a thank you note". Anything else that's in the envelope, well, that's just a bonus  )

This was my first thought Mapo. If I received a sealed anything I'd be at DLS asap.

OT but the last time we were in WDW (2007) on our last day at the parks, I picked up several buckets of caramel corn from Sleepy Hollow in MK (love that stuff!) and we headed from there to Epcot. The security guard tried to "steal" one of the buckets!! Said it was his fee to bring "food" into the park!! I thought it was pretty funny, and this comment reminded me of it!
