The song that helps me alot in bad times is "You'll Never Walk Alone", which I understand has been done by lots of artists, but I've only heard it performed by the Three Tenors (R.I.P. Luciano Pavarotti). It's very beautiful and inspiring.

Metallica's Wherever I May Roam always does it for me.

How 'bout Ringo's "I get by with a little help from my friends" (at SGT!)?

Sounds like things are moving along Bru! All my prayers for you and dad!

BTW, I got the sheet music for piano and it also has the chords for guitar for "They Can't Take That Away From Me". I will playing and singing it in no time. ;) I'll record it and send it to you! HAHAHAHA! No, that would be not nice. My voice ain't that great! Ralphie and I watched "Shall We Dance" again last night for the second time in 4 days....I tear up everytime that scene comes up where Fred (Petrov) sings that song to Ginger (Linda Keene) on the ferry from New Jersey to New York....ahhhhhhhhhh...

I am thinking of you today and hoping all goes well. I have been doing a liquid diet for awhile now, just cause solid food makes me run, run, run (IBS??? maybe?) and I have lost a few pounds. I am drinking Ensure so that I make sure to get my protein and all the vitamins and minerals I need. I am slowly trying to eat solid food, but my gut is messed up from the all the meds I was taking.
So drink Ensure. It is really healthy if you cannot keep solid food down.
My prayers and Hugs!
Susi

Well, I've always liked Warren Zevon.. (5th anniversary of his death was Sept 7..)

The man had a great sense of humor.. coming up with songs like this while dying of cancer:

Note: explicate lyrics and not for the humor impaired or easily offended.

Did you read the Rolling Stone interview with David Letterman? Some good stuff about Zevon.

Yes.. and the interview with Jackson Browne about Zevon.. Great stuff..

I also saw Warren Zevon's last appearance on Letterman.. That was about the most beautifully appropriate tribute to his life..

Letterman and I share the same favorite Zevon song.. "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner"

It's right up there with Werewolves Of London.

I don't know why but when things get really bad (and lately they have been REALLY bad) I love to put Viva la Vida by Coldplay on a loop on my iPod- bless Chris Martin and the boys...

Wazz, I loves ya. Just wanted to say that *hugs*

Oy, was yesterday a day. My dad was so exhausted and the worst part was he couldn't stop coughing. At one point toward the end of our marathon day at our last doctors office I look up and he's taken his trach out and is wiping it off with dry kleenex! *THUD*

But we got through it. what I can't believe is how much worse he is. he's having trouble eating much more now and he can't cover his trach and talk- the past two weeks have really taken him down.

Surgery is still on for Friday- and guys, they asked him more than once if he was sure about the blood transfusion thing because this is a very long surgery- supposed to last almost eight hours- and they said that it's big for blood loss.

My dad walked out of that hospital like a man resigned to his fate.

I don't know if he's going to get through this. But I will do my best- honor his beliefs and keep hoping he'll make it through. The name of the surgery is total laryngectomy with neck disection and yes, after hearing it described in detail twice yesterday by two different people, it is every bit as bad as it sounds.

*shaking* time for more Coldplay!!! *grabs iPod*

All your virtual hugs and well wishes mean so much...thank you again so very much. I wish I could give each and every one of you a big ol' real hug in return.

love ya'll
Bru
