First time posting-a guest, not a CM. I read that post on the other board, which I read infrequently because it tends to get nasty and heated a lot more quickly than some of the other boards, and I have to say I did find it odd. I work for a large orange home improvement chain and we are not allowed to accept tips or any kind of gratuities. A customer owns a bakery and frequently brings cookies and that sort of thing is overlooked but getting caught accepting a cash tip is a big no-no. Personally, I would never take "candy from strangers" so to speak. We have the same type of people who give us candy and I always toos it. I'm not going to make myself sick to avoid hurting someone's feelings. There are many kind, well meaning people in this world but there are many who are not. Unfortunately sometimes the bad guys look like the good guys.
I appreciate all the great CMs who have made my children's trips simply by wishing them a Happy Birthday by name (from their Bday button) or some other little thing. I will not be offering you guys any candy or baked goods (although I do make some awesome brownies, LOL). I teach my kids to be respectful and have manners and 2 of them are teens who continue to be respectful and well-mannered (at least in public). Consider that part of my gift to you as well, lol. They will not be cutting lines, running around like crazies, etc. That nonsense annoys the crap out of me and it's not just kids who do it either! Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to all of the CMs who go to work for less than ideal pay and do a great job.

My take on this whole thing of photographing CMs accepting goody bags is one word....BLACKMAIL. Next thing you know those people with the gifts will try some entitlement-fueled SGT, and when they get called out on it, they can whip out the photo of the CM they're blackmailing and say this person has accepted gifts contrary to company policy, in addition to not recognizing the SGs "right" to do whatever.

Well, with all due respect, that is a giant step into extreme paranoia. I don't think there is that big a conspiracy out there and if they are smart enough to set something up like that then they really cannot be considered stupid guests can they.

Maybe thats a new catagory SGT should consider:

Scheming Guests!

I love reading this board, and while I don't participate much, I have lurked here for quite some time now. I read board X but rarely post, mostly because I would say things that would get me banned... no you can't ask for a free upgrade, no you can't sneak extra people in a room, no you can't use someone else's ticket and no you are not entitled to anything for free just because you're wearing a button!

I am sad but not surprised to see that they have made there way here... I mean of course you all are wrong, you only work there what would you know

I am an RN and we are not allowed to accept most gifts (I do work peds so if a child makes something, we obviously display it for everyone to see). I previously worked as an EMT and was 'tipped' often which I always politely declined and asked that they write a letter to my boss instead.

I have stopped at GR to write up special CMs before, and am glad to know of the little card trick that you guys can accept for my August trip, because well, I just stink at names! I hope they all start to learn that just because one CM says its OK, doesn't make it so. But then again, if they listened, they wouldn't be SGs and I'd have nothing to read about here!

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you. :)

Yes, and I know for a fact that I, personally, would not be so paranoid if the whole world weren't out to get me.
