I deep fry turkey from time to time, and it is better tasting that roasted (IMHO) we also deep fry chicken and it is MUCH better that store bought (of couse I use a peanut oil and a very high temp!)

Heehee...I want a deep fried twinkie. That an deep fried ice cream, which confuses me very much. Wouldn't it melt?

And Churchy, that's disappointing that McDonald's has so many alergen's in the chicken, but that's more than likely the breading, which needs to have wheat, egg, and dairy to be breading. I've just recently been able to eat at McD's without being sick after about two years, so I think I know at least close to how you feel.

I didn't try it, but my DIL did on a previous trip to a fair. She said that they have really hard frozen ice cream in scoops, that are covered in a thick batter, then popped into a deep fryer for just a short time. The Ice cream is still pretty cold and solid, when you break through the sweet crust! (she also had a topping and sprinkles on it!!! (yes, I am gonna try it next time I get near one of those places!!!)

Aha! To bad fairs scare me (I've been spoiled by Disneyland), and the food stands always amaze me that they've made it by the health board. I'd love to try it, being the connoisseur of cream puffs that I am. I once had this really great ice cream puff with carmel and chocolate saude. I'm surprised I didn't pop after eating it. That and the Blue Bayou's Cookie Boat...YUM! :D:

YEP, we go to the Del Mar fair and ALWAYS hit up the food "midway" for deep fried stuff!!! hehehehehe

I actually like the deep fried veggies (sweet potato's etc) and of course, just about any kind of meat! ...and the onions!!!! Mmmmmmm

by the time we get to the desert ones, we are full!!!

Every once in a while they have the neighborhood fairs, and some of the "frying" trailers show up! MmmmmM!!

Always start with desert first! We actually had a waiter at a higher price restaurant here in Dallas, tell us when he and his wife hit the town, they always eat backwards, and eat desert first, because that way when they get to the appetizer they are full and don't feel they have missed anything. I love that philosophy. My doctor does not.
