Wow, this reminds me of this one lady who was about 5 or 6 months preg with a baby carrier, and she was the last one I was going to load on the boat, meaning she'll be sitting at the doorway. She gets really ugly towards me about her having to sit where other people walk. Ok, fair enough, I know some people might be a little disgusted about sitting there so I offered her to sit in the center crates because there was room. "No, the baby can't see anything from there" And what, the baby could see fine while sitting on the corner? I bet they get a nice view of the tan cover on the boat. Anyways, she gets ugly with me again and demands I put her on a different boat, I sternly said "sit down, you have 2 options, we need to keep the boats going" Later on I had a little chat with the coordinator saying she lady got upset with me loading her and gave her a couple fast passes, why? Because he felt sorry for her. I guess SGs really know how to tug on Disney's strings to get what they want, or something better when they don't get what they want. I do agree that Disney needs to grow some balls and not let people walk all over them, I won't allow people to act that way towards me or any skippers nearby and I'll let them know they were wrong, and if they get upset with that, I mention that they're in the "happiest place on earth" and if they're not happy here, they need to leave and not ruin it for everyone else, and they go storming off :)

My younger brother worked attractions. He said It's a Small World" was a pain in the butt. He did grouping. Why is it that everyone wants the front seat of the boat? I can see everything and I don't have any problems.

Although this isn't about an SG it kinda fits into this thread. I got suckered into being the homeowner's association president and get to put up with stuff that borders on completely stupid. One of the ongoing problems in Hawaii are people that rent their homes out for vacation rentals to cover the mortgage. They don't live there so they don't have to put up with the traffic, noise and garbage these places generate. We have a strong policy to stop them but occasionally one crops up. We'll deal with it and get the owner to shut it down.

Yesterday I was forwarded an e-mail from our management company that was sent to them from one of our Stupid Residents complaining about a vacation rental. It read in part, "If nothing is done on the Associations behalf immediately, I will place my future Association payments in an escrow account and instruct a lawyer to sue all parties involved for everything they can think." The content and tone of the letter hit me wrong so I called the SR.

He starts in about he's having to put up with blah, blah, blah. I cut him off and asked him why his first contact with the management company or the board was to issue threats. He starts up with the blah, blah, blah again and I cut him off. I told him in no uncertain terms that he was completely out of line, he had upset our management agent and if he did withhold dues we would sue him, win the judgment and place a lien on his house for the dues, interest, penalties and any legal fees we incurred. That shut him up.

We'll work with the County and our lawyer to shut down the rental. I don't mind taking care of stuff that's generated from a reasonable complaint but I won't put up with crap.

I guess I'm getting old and cranky but my BS buffer has gotten quite small.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

Haitians are very similar. Actually, there are a couple buses believed to be haunted, and no Haitian bus drivers will go anywhere near them. From what I have seen, several Caribbean cultures are like that.

I don't know about everyone else, but I like that front seat because it has some extra room. My legs are pretty long, and in the back it can get really uncomfortable if I am on a full boat.

Yeah my parents refused to go on Haunted Mansion because they felt that it wasn't right that Disney was "making light" of things like that.

Yup, sounds right.

Actually, with one of these buses, it was because it was in a horrific accident coming out Coronado Springs. A group of kids in a Civic (or some similar car) slammed into it at about 100 mph broadside as it was pulling out of the resort. The legend is that on a rainy night, on an empty bus, you can hear the kids crying.

Last week at Animal Kingdom I had a bad experience with a Guest Relations CM. When I met back up with my family my mom asked what was wrong and I started crying, he made me feel that bad. She went to the nearest CM and asked for a someone in charge, who in turn went to get who was in charge of Guest Relations. (I'm not sure what they are called) anyway I told him what happened and he could see how upset I was. He apologized several times and asked if there was anything I wanted. I told him that I wasn't complaining to get anything out of it, I just didn't want another person to be treated the way I was. He said thank you and we went on our way.

I hate it when people think they need to be compensated for everything, it just makes me ill. Also my mom started chiming in on how much money we spend there and I shut her down cold. That drives me nuts too! Everyone spends a lot of money to go there, it doesn't make us special.

I do hope he talked to the CM about it though.

it's true that alcohol (be it whiskey or rum) numbs the gums, so good for teething babies...you don't pour it down their throats...all it takes is a little on your finger and you rub it on their gums...i used it on my own gums when my wisdom teeth were trying to come in, so i know it works...it doesn't turn your little one into a alcoholic in later life...all of my kids are just fine

Oh my god... The row one requests for Soarin'... Pretty much the worst question you can ask. My favorite is when they ask for "the front row."

;) They're all the front row.

But year, asking for row one pretty much guarantees that we officially hate you. It gets so bad during peak seasons that people will wait one or even two flights just to have the top. It bugs me, because then there are 15 extra people standing in the gate area, and that's actually a huge safety issue. Sometimes you come out, and they've loaded themselves into the front row as soon as you leave, which gets them a very stern talking to from me. The problem is that they're only a couple feet from the theater, and could easily walk in without our knowledge. If there isn't a grouper, then there's about a minute and a half where the jet way is unsupervised. Scares the crap out of me on every flight.

We once walked out to find that the guests had tried to load themselves, all the way to the middle gate. We were fuming. We also made every single one of them get out, and we loaded them back in ourselves, but for the middle, we flipped row one and row three so the jerks who thought they would bully themselves into the top row got sent to the bottom without knowing what happened. We were all so angry, they didn't dare say anything if they noticed.

I have known cast members who have loaded the middle gate backwards if the row one people are too rude. The crap people pull, and the BS people come up with to justify being six feet higher up than the next row is ridiculous.

We once had a guest announce to the entire jet way that there was no point in even riding Soarin' if you weren't on the top... we wanted to beat him into a bloody pulp, we got so many requests, and it just messes up everything. It messes up our efficiency, it messes up our counting, it messes up out safety, it puts lots of us in a really bad mood... It's probably one of the worst things about working the gates.

It goes back to western society's (mostly American) sense of entitlement. They have to feel like they're better than the guy next to them in line. You can see their smug little looks of satisfaction for waiting for the next flight so that they can ride one row higher, while other guests trample on their feet to squeeze by.

I've known guests to abandon their kids to get row one. Like, there will be four seats open in row three, and one seat in row one, so they'll make dad and the two kids sit in row three, so that they can have row one. And it's so upsetting to me that your desire to watch from a few feet higher will go above your desire to spend time with your kids. It bothers me so much.

I really do like working there, don't get me wrong, but I've seen some of the most abhorrent examples of human beings by working there that I never saw at Port Orleans or Blizzard Beach.

Although up next for me is Entertainment, and I'm betting I'll see some shocking examples of people mistreating me, my character attendant, and other guests to get that picture with Chip and Dale. We'll see next month. :-)
