Re: SG Packin' Heat
Actually, if I should happen to practice, it will be on the helmeted guinea fowl. For that, I would actually be appreciated.
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Well, the SCA can be as time and money intensive as you want. Most events are on the weekend, and at least here in So Cal there's an event almost every weekend. You can actually get into it relatively cheaply and before anyone got really involved, I would recommend going to the website and waiting until there's an event near you, go to it, and ask questions. Most events are at open public parks (at least here, I know some areas have a lot more weekend camping events) so anyone can come up at anytime, and that's actually how we get quite a few new members, they just see us in the park. We're generally pretty friendly and happy to answer questions.
Membership is not required, but fees for particular events will be slightly more expensive (generally 3-5 bucks more per person) but for day events (again, here) it's only about 5 bucks per event anyway. Membership is only 30 or 40 per year.

I looked into it when I was in college in Sonoma County California! They have a very large contingent there, what with the Ren Faire and all. I went to a meeting and it was cool. Unfortunately I needed to graduate and spend time studying hard, so I never got involved. I would have since I love all that medieval and rennaisance stuf. My thesis was on King Arthur in college. Got an A on that one. I am enamored by all things Arthurian!Kwahati wrote:I've never been in it, but I've been along side it quite a bit as all my theater friends and some of my debate friends as well (in high school and college) were involved with it. My understanding is it's *huge* and everywhere throughout the US... I'm guessing you wouldn't have to look hard to find a chapter of the group. Now finding the time to add something like that to an already busy schedule...that might be a little harder.![]()

So you are part of the Kingdom of Caid? What happens if you move, like say if we were to get involved here, now in Denver, and then our house sells, we wanted to join up in Florida or SoCal where ever we end up. Are you accepted into a new group easily? Or must you change your character...lady ulrike wrote:The SCA is actually worldwide, there are branches everywhere. You pick your own role, so to speak, but it's not a performance thing. It's a non-profit educational organization, so for those that have the time, during the week we go to schools and such and talk about the middle ages and then on weekends hold tournaments and such, basically just for ourselves.
The website is http://www.sca.org

If it's anything like some of the Camarilla (vampire live-action roleplay group), I'm pretty sure your character is transferrable.

More of a blood-taker transfusion.
