we have a whole batch of new hires (just saw a group doing first day training in the office couple of days ago) - in dca day custodial. i like being able to show new hires around and help them out. also, big congratulations to all the new leads and trainers! its weird seeing people i work with as leads.

How many people in the new group? I don't know why we even need them because they won't be done with training till at least after the holidays, unless they make it 5 days straight training.... and after the holidays we're going to be overstaffed till at least march. Hopefully its not more than 2 cms.

God, I hope Custodial isn't overstaffed in March. That's when I'll be eligible to come back...

what i hate about some new hires is that they don't know what to do and they don't ask questions. I always ask questions (then again i'm at a new location every month) I think that people are afraid to be thought of as stupid if they ask too many questions, but if the don't ask and they screw up they will look even more stupid.

so here's my tip, all CMs, MCs (model citizens) or what ever they call you at your particular workplace encourage questions and thank them when they ask

Most new hires are cool, except for the ones you have to practically retrain when they're in your area because they didn't pick up all the knowledge from training. But i love showing the new ones around!

. . . or the ones with the know-it-all attitude. They try to belittle everyone else; thinking they're better. When you try to show them a tip or two, they just scoff at you like you're of little or no intelligence.

Yeah its not like we have been working the location for less time or something. We have a lot of new hires who suffer from "But that's not what my trainer said" syndrom.

is what the trainer says what the OG says? there are alot of things at indy that alot of new hires could have gotten in alot of trouble for because it's not part of the training, luckily most of the crew recognizes it and will give them a heads up. The guy I trained with at indy got a safety of something our trainer never even warned us about.
