On note of the park counts WDW has certain limits also.

From what I've heard although I do not know how accurate this is:

Magic Kingdom 75,000

Epcot 65,000

Studios 60,000

Animal Kingdom 80,000

Interesting. When I was in high school and still coming in as a paying guest, I can remember they used to stop admitting people after a certain number had gone through the turnstyles for the day, and they wouldn't admit anyone until several thousand had left without going through the turnstyle for the re-entry stamp.

Of course, when I worked there, there was more than one summer or Christmas week day when we had attendance of well over 60K. Why do they bother - it's gridlock in front of the river despite the reworking of the area in front of pirates and everyone is miserable. Guests and C.M.'s. Oh well, guess they've got to keep making money to pay that @$%*#!^*@ Eisner his bonus.

Yeah, I think the 55,000 count for the high for Disneyland has been changed cause I know we've had days more crowded than that and those aren't even the sold out days.

I think you are right polar I heard from someone that 80,000 was our cut off. Which is A LOT of people. That's when you avoid Adventureland at all costs.

The crowded days suck for everyone, and you are all right the guest want stuff for coming on crowded days. Ive had a few guest demand that we give them free stuffed animals for having to be in the park when it's crowded. I usually come back with this, " Im sorry that you feel that way sir, today is a bit on the crowded side, but that's always expected for this time of year, since we have guests here from all over the world. And they are all on vacation just like you. Might I segest for your next trip that you come during Jan or Feb?"

Then I always get, " But im working during that time."

me- <"yes sir, everyone is working during that time that is why its less crowded. But if you really do feel the need to be compensated by a plush for your anguish, may I page my lead for you so you might lament to them about your current metal well being."

Usually they give me a confused look because they dont understand what im saying LOL I give props to my english teacher, and they say no thats ok and leave.

I'm afraid it isn't as simple as just a body count. The real capacity of a Park will vary depending on which attractions are open, if they're running at full capacity or not, whether Fastpass is working, and especially if the nighttime parade or fireworks haven't been offered the day before.

As I understand it, the decision to advance from one phase to the next is made by a committee of senior managers on an ad hoc basis. They don't even appear to have nominal counts to guide them, but instead just look at Main Street and decide how greedy/unsafe they care to be that day.

I know the MK has had over 85k in some days. I also know I won't go into any guest areas when the population is over about 50k! My last night PAC shift was my last night PAC shift, too. <shudder>

There is a magic # as far as DL park capacity, heard it was in the 90s from a lead. A few depts. post the # of guests in the park @ a certain time & the capacity which is expected. #s are not always up to date but seem close & often scary. I've worked many shifts during 4th of July, Christmas season & on New Year's Eve & Day when DL was completely SLAMMED! When so overcrowded a CM must walk sideways & plan the route carefully. Going back or against the wall of holiday whiners is NOT FUN :!: CMs risk their life if they must go against foot traffic. Have seen so many accidents occur when CMs stop the flow to help a guest!! CMs could expire on stage & not be found until 3rd shift. The overhead freeway signs on 5 stating DLR is closed are my first indications my shift will be chaos. Never have successfully learned to walk sideways & actually breathe normally
