Yup. And because they're narrow gauge, the two railroads at WDW are exempt as well, more's the pity.

Had my way, I'd apply both the random testing and the HoS laws to the trains, and most of the other safety positions as well.

I think the consultation with the Unions is to declare which positions will be subject to the testing so the Union can warn their members to transfer out first. I know several CMs who would not be able to fill a clean cup.

Hair follicle testing has included alcohol since 2008 in the U.S. (earlier in Europe), and is becoming quickly a standard for detecting long term abuse of alcohol. The problem with hair follicle testing for alcohol is that it doesn't show current level but only if it's been used while the hair is growing. Since alcohol is a legal drug, it is usually current level that matters. The best test for determining current level of alcohol is a blood test; saliva and breath tests also give reasonable approximations of the current alcohol level.

LSD can be detected by a urine test, but only within about 3 days from usage and urine is usually only tested for LSD when specifically requested, not as part of a standard drug screen.

The standard urine sample is not use for alcohol testing. It is a separate test and is more closely related to a breathalyzer. And no a union cannot override federal and state regulations for drivers. But as stated that is a different union, where this is probably set up for random drug usage, not driver related. It usually requires some probable cause.

I have now been corrected twice. :stupid: Thank you for the info. The last time I dealt closely with drug testing was in the early 90's while in the military. Obviously like everything else in my world, it has changed immensely.

The Service Trades Council Union has set a vote for the proposed Collective Bargaining Agreement.

It will be held on Thursday, 14 October 2010 from 07:00 to 19:00 at the Convention Centre located at Disney's Contemporary Resort

To be eligible to vote, you must be a Full Time Cast Member employed in a STCU-covered role (Casual Regular Cast Members will vote on their contract at a later date). In addition, you must be currently enrolled as a member in good standing on the membership rolls of one of the following labour unions:
  • UNITE HERE, Local 362
  • Workers United, Local 737
  • International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 385
  • Transporation Communications International Union, Local 1908
  • United Food and Commerical Workers Union, Local 1625
To enrol, or to ascertain your membership status, please contact a Shop Steward or other union representative.
