That pretty much sums up my experiences as well.ktulu wrote:Amen! My experience with Board X has always been met with cliques, and if you oppose the "cool kids" then you're ridiculed. I also found many of them to be in the entitlement crowd. You bought your ticket to Disney, and that gives you the privilege to experience the magic of the parks. Anything addition is at the whim of the Cast and should not be expected, nor something you should ask for. My family has had many magical experiences, none of which were solicited, none of which we jockeyed into position for and none of it was expected. THAT'S what made it magical.
That's not to say that Board X has good people. I encountered them, but sadly in my experience it was few and far between.
Enlighten me.

I have never made a secret of the fact that I frequent Board X. I'm easy to spot because I use the same screen name (I hate hiding).DisneyMom wrote:Board X is a generic term meant to protect the not-so-innocent ;)
Maybe you haven't read some of the threads there that clearly show some to be rude and obnoxious SGs and worse, some agreeing with them that it is their right and duty to be a SG since Disney costs so much
I am not a CM, but am appalled at the general attitude of entitlement you run into at the Parks and in "real life".
In all my years there, I really don't remember what you are saying about it. It has been my experience that whenever someone posts something that is negative and/or entitled they get flamed by many many posters. The exposure comes from posters that ask entitlement or beat the system questions. That is usually reacted too quickly and without mercy sometimes. Those that support it are few and far between and are usually trolls.
Yes, they are different from the group on this site but then again they are the people that you all consider "stupid guests". I realize that this is a primary CM site but if you want to talk clique, well you don't really have to look far to find it.
The point is that there is room out there for both types. I understand the need to vent. I work with the public myself, but most of the posters on X are just people that love Disney and are sometimes a little hyper about it. Try to be a bit understanding. Most of them defend CM's to the hilt. I know, I am one of them.

You do realize that "board X" does not necessarily refer to a specific board right?Goofyernmost wrote:I have never made a secret of the fact that I frequent Board X. I'm easy to spot because I use the same screen name (I hate hiding).

Of course it does...the Dis Boards have been mentioned often and with great venom. If that isn't the one then I apologize but it seems that the quotes are coming from there.Disneyguy85 wrote:You do realize that "board X" does not necessarily refer to a specific board right?

Re: Enlighten me.
No. It has always been a generic term for the "other" boards in the few years I have frequented here. Posts referred to board X, Y or Z but never any indication of which is which. It was understood that X was both any and all other Disney boards. An additional benefit was that it kept G00gle from indexing posts regarding the specific other boards.Goofyernmost wrote:Of course it does...the Dis Boards have been mentioned often and with great venom. Perhaps in recent threads it has been used to refer to a specific board (and I frequent several of them from time to time, for planning information) but these recent threads are in fact the first instances that I can recall of a specific board being named.
I thought the mods had requested that those other boards NOT be referred to by name, in order to avoid attracting attention from their members, and from the trolls.
Lets all try and not mention any of those other boards by name, and keep SGT below the radar !

Thank you for explaining my confusion better than I did. This is exactly what I was trying to communicate and I couldn't agree with you more.Goofyernmost wrote:I have never made a secret of the fact that I frequent Board X. I'm easy to spot because I use the same screen name (I hate hiding).

By the way, I do not see anything wrong with a message board that is meant to be a venting place for those who work everyday with a smile on their face even when they don't feel like it. You need it and bless you for the dreams that you make come true every day. I just was confused by the animosity toward board X folks.

...As delsdad said, No, its doesn't.Goofyernmost wrote:Of course it does...
The "X" board(s) that I am familiar with include many people who are very rude, cynical, and get such glee and happiness from viciously insulting other people who dare disagree with their always negative options.
And the mods at those places never seem to care; all they ever seem to do is give troublemakers a slap on the wrist, and spout empty threats.
So, as I said before, the term "board X" does not necessarily refer to a specific message board. And the letters "Y" or "Z" are mentioned when talking about multiple boards.
Its all to keep the names anonymous, so that they don't appear in an online search engine.

It may not, but I agree with Goofy-it's pretty clear which "board X" is being slammed with the greatest frequency. I'm fairly sure it's because of the sheer size.Disneyguy85 wrote:You do realize that "board X" does not necessarily refer to a specific board right?
All "X" participants are not entitled SG's and while it has a sizable group of them, I've also met some truly wonderful folks there that I've become friends with "offline". We have a pretty good time laughing at the SG's there too, actually.
I'm always hesitant to label an entire group for the actions of some.

I'm not sure defending board x,y, or z is going to get much milage here. I know there are some good people, but I personally believe (based on personal experience) that those people are in the minority.
