TV just showed a guy walking in the ocean off Waikiki. SG's are everywhere.

The Hilo Bay camera is showing a rapid out flow of water.

I'm watching the ABC afffiliate's coverage online, and they were showing some guy swimming out in Waikiki.

He's probably convinced that he'll be safer off shore than on top of his multi-story hotel building away from the rushing water  .

Hobie - do you have a good link to live coverage? Watching KHON2 TV and they are talking to civil defense people.

I'm watching the local CBS station, channel 9.

It looks like it turned into an almost non event. The Pacific Tsunami Center is saying they won't give an all clear for another hour.

Well, keep updating. You have an audience now.

they flow from me,
inscribed but now unbound,
I touch them,
and they are real,

Better a non-event than a horrific event. Whew! Good training for the civil defense and tsunami warning system folks. They seemed to do a good job notifying everyone about evacuating and going to safe ground.

It was a good thing that something happened. Otherwise, the next time there was an alert, all the dopes would be at the beach preparing themselves for a Darwin Awards event.

I was watching that most of my morning. My step parent's family lives on Oahu. I saw some water being pulled away and some waves coming in. Not much, but I am glad you are ok. :)

Thanks! Life is back to normal and the pooches don't have any refugee tourists to bark at.
