Re: Question for Big Wallaby
I can get that ECV into the front of the monorail, I'm just going to need some tools...
...and a torch.

omg that guy's livejournal story was awesome! It was the closest I'll ever get to feeling that feeling and you KNOW how much I dream of that.
Did I ever tell you guys the story about the little "D" button from the monorail pilot's uniform that my husband found late one night at the Contemporary years ago when we were first married?
It's a very sweet story- and I still cherish that button.
If you want to hear it I'll post it in the break room or something (unless no one objects to me posting it here)

Re: Question for Big Wallaby
I think that Disney should build a few special monorails for those who need wheel chairs and also EVC's. :)

Re: Question for Big Wallaby
the current monorails are built to handle ECVs, nonfolding prams, and wheelchairs. Their is a needed ramp because of the gap between the car and the dock. There really is no need for special cars when adaptations like seating that folds up to allow room is all that is needed and leaves room for nondisabled guests. The driver has to see out of the cab windshield so an ECV would block the view of the driver. The only way to make a cab that allowed wheelchairs would be to elongate the cab so that it would be able to hold all the weight of the chair and guests.

Re: Question for Big Wallaby
Ok.... here is a solution that I have come up with on getting you on the front cab of the monorail!!
I think a nice LONG trip on the EPCOT spur would do you well, so I purpose that we get you in the front and do one of the following....
A: After loading at the TTC, hold your ECV at the TTC, ride in the front cab to EPCOT and if you have to, transfer to the Cab #1 on the trip back if someone is waiting.
B: After loading you into the front cab, have someone like myself, or my wife... or someone else who would volunteer, take the ECV to the wheelchair access car and ride with it to EPCOT o you have your wheels their.
But here is the catch... ECV's are not allowed out of the park..... so what we may do is put you in a standard wheel chair and take that up... and then get your ecv after wards.... CM's have hookups on the reg. chairs.......

Re: Question for Big Wallaby
It is only the Disney Rentals that are not allowed out of the parks. If a person has their own, or rents from an outside vendor there are no restrictions.Doctor McKey wrote:But here is the catch...
