Yes, EXCEPT he was using a shotgun at close range, which means that the shot would not have much time to scatter, so it would be concentrated. Also the gas tanks on mowers are little more than thin metal, not like the re-enforced tanks on vehicles. and at close range, you will get a LOT of hot gasses, and wadding, and unburnt powder coming out the end of the shotgun.

Enough to possibly ignite any fuel tank that has been punctured.

I watch mythbustes whenever I can, and do note that sometimes the parameters that they set up are sometimes more "controlled" than things are in real life.

HMMMMM...just thinking here.....SOOOOOOOOOOOO if Donnie ceases to work (not in that way you sickos, talking bout taking out the garbage, etc) I can take a shot gun to him.? Well, darn, maybe not. Not worth the jail time I suppose.

They DO have some rounds available. My favorite is the shotgun shell that has hard rubber pellets. You shoot it at the ground (toward your target) at about a 45 degree or less angle. They bounce and travel parallel to the pavement, between 12 and 26 inches (think knees to waist) with less force than a direct shot.

They REALLY sting when they hit any target. No know penetration into the skin, but they do leave a red mark!

Old appliances/mowers/electronics are great for this sort of thing. I've shot a few TV's in my time, wash/dryers, cars, all kinds of neat stuff. We used to go out to this area that was used as an elligal dump and shoot whatever was around, we started noticing some of the washers and dryers that were in one piece were kinda spread around in many pieces and an old car that was there had no roof anymore. One weekend we took a couple of old TV's we had and right after we got there some other people showed up and we soon found out what happend to the car and appliances. Seems one of these guys worked for a construction company nad had a license to use explosives and was bringing sticks of dynamite and primacord with him and they were bowing shit up. So after we shot out the screens of the TV's the guy stuck a stick in each and connected them with primacord and told me to shoot it with a .308
it was really neat, lots of fun, great way to release stress.

Of course I get the impression this guy busted out the shotgun in the front yard in a residential area which is unsafe and elligal.

I had a friend who once co-owned a gun store and we used to go shooting on his property (in Florida). He had this one little machine gun that was basically 2 Ruger 22mms with a hand crank and two crescent-shaped feed magazines. It took you forever to fill those mags (about 100 bullets all told) but it would fire basically as fast as you could turn the crank ("tack-tack-tack-tack" to "trrrrrrrr"). They had this old VW beetle as part of the targets and I LITERALLY cut the front fender in half with it.

Much fun.
