At least they are not littering. ;) It is so nice to get a pair of glasses that had someones snot rag lying on it. Please tell me they spray them with lysol or some disinfectant between shows. PLEASE TELL ME THIS (even if it is not true, it will make me feel healthier! :p: )
It is true!! :D

It is terrible the amount of garbage I have seen people put into those bins. I will usually say something to the person. "That is the bin for the 3-D glasses!" or "That's not a garbage can, that's where the glasses go!"
And those bins ARE labled very well. Some people are lazy and rude. It must be a nightmare to clean that crap! Ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel for you. :(

that is one of my biggest pet peeves!! I seen people throw dirty diapers in there. One time, I had to run and literally stop them from dropping their trash in the bins. they can't tell the difference between the trash cans and the goggle bins.
GaTechGal wrote:I thought they put all those glasses in a big tray and ran them through a machine like a giant dishwasher. That's why they are in those trays when you pick them up.
Yup, that is what we do.
mechurchlady wrote:Maybe the glasses make them impervious to CM instructions. I wonder how cool they think they look. The newest marital aid is the 3-D glasses from an amusement park.
They don't think look as cool as they think they do.
Randy B wrote:Too many SGs assume one of two things. One is that the glasses will magically make everything 3-D (isn't it amazing that when you look down the street with these glasses it looks 3-D. ;) ) The other assumption is because they look like sunglasses they work like sunglasses and you know how SGs like getting free stuff. But BOTH of these assumptions are wrong. The 3-D effect is in the film and projection system not the glasses. And since the two lenses are polarized at right angles to each other, as sunglasses they are a total bust. One lens will be blocking sun glare and the other won't.

We tell them everyday that the goggles impair their normal vision. But, they don't listen.

Um, a couple things:

1. The real key is to see the first 3D show of the day, assuming that they wash the glasses only once a day. That way you know you're not getting glasses with Coke, or stuff from a dirty nappie.

2. Why don't they have a CM at the glasses deposit area kindly reminding SG to leave glasses? I know who most of these SG are. They are the same idiots that are jumping the chains at the main entrance, showing off to the rest of their imature friends. Can't wait so see one of these idiots fall flat on their faces jumping chains. Not that I want to see them hurt, but feeling a little foolish would be great!

It doesn't matter which show you see, glasses are never worn twice. Once they are disposed of in the return bin they are placed on trays, and put on "Dirty" racks. Each show uses ONLY trays from "Clean" racks. All glasses you get are CLEAN. At the beginning of the day the glasses truck comes around, drops off new clean glasses, and picks up dirty glasses. The glasses are then washed in the Image building as a position in their rotation. They are fed into a machine and sprayed with VERY hot water. Then they are dried in a manner similar to a dishwasher. They are pretty close to Sterile when they come out and are placed on the "Clean" racks.

Don't get me wrong, I like the salads there, but the other food tastes very institutionalized, kinda bland. Really, the only time I eat there is when there is a parade, or fireworks, or Fantasmic crowds blocking my other favorite places to eat.
Eh, don't worry about it. Most CMs at my location would tend to agree with you. I personally like the pasta, and the salad is pretty good, but the rest of it...yea.

Cafe Orleans on the other hand, the Monte Cristo is to die for :D: .

^ The biggest drag about Sodhexo is no more Chicken Fusili at Inn Between. :(

It's fun when you find someone wearing Bug's glasses... in the far end of the other park.

I think Disney has trained me a little TOO well to drop the 3D glasses in the bins...

I was leaving our local IMAX theater after watching a 3D movie. The employees were collecting the glasses by hand. I assumed it was just to make the flow of people exiting faster, because there was only one door for exit and only one bin that I could see. Well, I decided to "help out" and instinctively dropped my glasses into the big can with a hole in the top middle of it next to the door.

Turns out, it was the trash can... The employees were hand-collecting and then just dumping the glasses into a large plastic bin over to the side.

Oops... :o:

They might if they were used at Knott's Berry Farm. No matter where you eat (esp. the employee cafeterias) the food is inedible.

They are not CLEAN clean, like brand new out of the box, but clean from the day before. They make sure they clean them all for use the next day.

They do have CMs stationed at the exits at the end of each show. Sometimes, it's not easy to catch guests walking off with the glasses. They can be distracted by something else. There are times that they don't make it back on time and when they return, it is a big mess. We even have times that I see other CMs bring up to the exit stacks of glasses that they have caught and return them to us.

It's not just hot water, but it's ionized water. They have tanks they use in the goggles cleaning rooms. At DLR, HISTA, Bugs, and Muppets use the same machine. They send the Muppets and Bugs glasses from DCa via DCA ODV. HISTA washes them and sends them back. They bring them by a cart loads, a cart has 4 shelfs each holding about 9 or 16 trays of each, with each tray carrying about 60 glasses in two sections. They seem to be constantly picking them up and dropping more off.

At philhar most of the time the exit CM is still counting and stacking the glasses, or is still inside the glasses room when the guests exit. It's a BIG theatre (close to 500 people in a full show) that all exit out through 4 double doors. Even if the CM were to be out there, it is difficult to watch all 4 bins since you do NOT want to be in the middle of the exiting mass. On busy days (like christmas, 4th of july) we have people tasking, assisting, and modified/light duty CMs at exit, so if you have one CM at each of the 2 large pole signs "Return Opera Glasses", then it can work since each CM can watch 2 bins.
