I had my daughter at work one day, she was probably nine years old, and we ran into the CEO in the break room. He asked who this was and shook hands with her. We were headed back to my desk and she said, "Dad, is that the guy with the plane?" I said yes. She was very impressed that I knew someone who owned his own jet.
My boss was a civilian psychologist who was a little anal. CO did indeed have a sense of humor and made several duck jokes. Not that I can recall any of them.

A married couple I sail with are both psychologists. I finally got them to admit they do pathology on every social situation they're involved with. They started giving me insights on what was going on in different situations. My favorite is group monologues. It really applies to competitive events.

I find that it is the middle managers who have the most problems. Once they become senior managers they know either that they are definitely going up or staying in the same position until retirement. In either situation they are no longer trying to impress the higher levels.
In the military, for example, this is at the Full Colonel (Navy Captain) level; they know pretty much by then if that will be their final rank or if they will be getting stars.

this? Phineas and Ferb is awesome -- I like it as much as my kids do.
Just these two posts got me humming Perry the Platypus's songs, both the "Dooby dooby doo wah" action music and his theme song! "He's got more than just mad skill, he's got a beaver tail and a bill!"
Serious, check out P&F if you get a chance. It's hilarious, and the music is one of the best things about it. Seriously, I think they've had a new (humorous) song in every episode so far.
I need to start Tivo'ing P&F. It is awesome!

I was in an Army Reserve brigade headquarters unit that had a slot for a general. We kept getting full colonels that were being auditioned for the general's slot. They'd be around for six to nine months. It was pretty sad to see them after they'd been told they were not getting promoted.
