This is weird... I typed a response earlier today, but it's not here...

I can only give you the guest POV, but it is definitely worth it! Yes, there are some negatives, like being mistaken for a CM. But even that can be entertaining if you don't mind the occasional pestering. Plus, I'm not sure how much these "CM Moments," as I've come to call them, are because of the name tag. After all, every one in our family wears them, and I'm the only one who gets mistaken for a cast member. In fact, it's happened to me even when I was wearing a jacket and the name badge was covered.

Others have reported on this board, too, that they get mistaken for CM's all the time, so... I think that's more a factor of your demeanor and approachability. Face it, if you look like you know where you are and what's going on around you, you'll look more authoritative than 99% of the guests around you!

As for the positives, there are so many instances we've had magic made that we can directly attribute to the name tags. CMs tend to be friendly anyway, but when they can call you by name many of them treat you like long-lost family. It's pretty special.

And my boys still talk about the time on our first family trip, when they were 6 and 8, that the guy who does the preshow at Festival of the Lion King sat down next to us with his guitar and sang us a song that incorporated all of our names! We hadn't said a word to the guy beforehand. Really, really cool.

So IMHO, wear your GOH badge without guilt and enjoy yourself!

Not gonna be me. Zazu? Polar? Lady U? I'm not going to hold my breath on any of them slapping you, either... That is, unless you like that sort of thing...

Yeah it seems like the board is a bit buggy tonight. Your response wasn't here a second ago and now it is.

You can order Guest of Honor nametags from giftsofalifetime.com, or you could purchase one and also have your name engraved on it at the Christmas shop in Downtown Disney.

Don't forget about us extended family on the east coast!!! I love refering to guests by names. One of my favorite things to do is to ask "older" women with birthday buttons if it their 21st or 22nd birthday and they all start to blush. ;)

I will warn you that CMs in certain areas will look down on you for it- even if they don't let it show. But they are few and far between. I'm ambivalent, I do think it's fun when kids have something with their name on it. You call them by name and they can't figure out for the life of them how you know it! It's great fun.

Ooo. This is good info. We're celebrating my husband's 30th birthday on our upcoming trip (we'll miss the actual date by a couple weeks so I won't be getting him the b-day button) and this could be a nice alternative.

He's very shy, but very, very funny and if he's engaged by the characters, well, hilarity ensues every time.

If he had a tag with his name on it. . .that could start some fun stuff LOL

Woot! The spelling of his name is unusual so I don't know if that website would work, but we're staying near DTD. Might have to take a boat ride LOL
