They would not ever be able to comprehend that they needed to do homework before they left, and probably would tend to scoff at the idea. We are the obsessed one's, they are just going on a fun vacation. The amount of money they spent makes them even less likely to "read up" on the place. For that kind of money they shouldn't have to work at it.

As much as I hate to bring it up...I was watching one of the older Samantha Brown shows on WDW. She, and I can forgive her, got on one of the boats from one of the resorts headed for Magic Kingdom, I think. Anyway, she got on the boat and as it was pulling away from the dock, she yelled out.."I'm going to Walt Disney World. It went through what was probably hours of editing and no one notice the error. Like I said, I can forgive Sam because, well, I love her and will someday marry her and I think that if she thinks that the Magic Kingdom is WDW, the they should change things and make it so. I'm just saying!
But technically she is right. Its like saying, I am going to WDW, the Magic Kingdom, or WDW, Downtown Disney, and so on.. And like you said, a lot of people are not like us that do research on vacations BEFORE we go, so to them, she is encompassing ALL the parks under the WDW tag, so as to not confuse the masses of potential SG's that will go, and be suprised that they have to stand in line, or the heat, or...and so on!!

This reminds me of another one I heard while there early January...

Family is standing at the top of Main Street and looking at their map.
"Ok...so we did Epcot....lets go do Animal Kingdom - its over this way....."

"Daddy which one was Epcot?"
"The place where you just rode buzz honey"
"Whats in Animal Kingdom"
"There is a boat safari ride and I think the pirate ride is there too"

And off they walked to Adventureland.

I figure it was one of 2 things...
1. Really Stupid Guest
or
2. Dad only had the money/time for MK and convinced the kids they went to Epcot and Animal Kingdom as well

Which only creates more stupid guest.

Wouldn't he be upset if he finds out at the hotel on the last day there, that he was wrong!!!

PapaMouse wrote:God how I hate it when people think that the MK is "Disney world" and the Studios is Universal, and today Someone called AK Bush Gardens. :banghead: . If your going on a trip there AT LEAST learn the park names and realize that it is ALL Walt Disney World.
Been there seen that. It is even more confusing when the UG (Uneducated Guest as opposed to pure stupid) then has to navigate using directional signage that has the correct info. I have several times seen a couple standing in the middle of the TTC looking confused. I make it a point to try to help. The conversation tends to go something like this:

ME: Can I help you?

UG: I see monorails and ferries but none are going to Disney World. How do we get there.

ME: Well it's kinda hard. First you need to take 3 steps back. (waits for them to do so), Then take a giant step to the left. (waits for them to do so) And THERE YOU ARE! You're IN Disney World!

UG looks totally confused

ME: (with a big smile) The entire property is Walt Disney World. The theme park you are probably looking for is the Magic Kingdom. (pointing to signs)

At this point I offer to help them find the way and if I happen to be heading towards the MK, I lead the way.

I figure a little humor not only breaks the ice but they will remember the correction longer. And I have had some fun and fascinating discussions with first time visitors durring the travel to the MK. :D:

Of course there are those who just won't learn and thus I regularly overhear things like "We'll go over to Disney World for the morning and then go to Epcot for the afternoon".

For a while there when the media blitz was heavy on EPCOT Center (as it was then), many people thought the MK was Disney World and the entire property was called Epcot, or that they were two seperate companies. And if you watched the ads it certainly did seem to be true. So I give first timers a little slack as I realize that some of the misconceptions are as much the fault of the Disney marketing dept as anything else.

I like it when people come to Typhoon and don't know why their Sea World tickets will not work in the turnstiles.
I once worked the turn styles at Sea World when a group of guest tried to use their Disney tickets. They didn't understand the concept that Sea World was owned by a different company.

I once witnessed a mom kneeling down with her child, pointing to Cinderella Castle and saying "Look! It's the Magic Kingdom!"

Isn't that better then telling the kid everything here is fake?

Yesterday I heard a SG ask a cast member where EE was. The cast member replied: That is at the Animal Kingdom Park in Florida.

I seriuosly think they would have a hard time finding that here in Frontierland.

Aw man, this is great. I cannot stand stupid people in general, if only I worked at a Disney park to share my own.

But as a frequent park go-er of both WDW and DLR, one thing that has always driven me INSANE with both anger and SG thoughts is on crowded buses. The CM will always say move all the way to the back of the bus while standing, turn to the back of the bus and if you can still see the floor, keep moving, or something like that. This concept in completely lost on some people. COMPLETELY. They won't even realize they are being a SG.

Or when a kid sits in a single seat up front and mom MUST stand by the kid. It's a short ride, from point a to b, he's not going anywhere...

More SGs... those who don't understand FPs. They crack me up, but I actually love them, works in my favor really.

Those who claim they can go from any park or the TTC to DTD, I cannot tell you how many times I, as a guest, have to correct people on that.
