On the other hand, even tho a salt flat may be able to double for a snowscape, it would be very hard on the cast to act in thick fur coats. :D:
Randy
True, they can always get the the cool jell packs to wear under the coats for a quick film shoot!

*phew* I can't imagine.. they'd all die of heat stroke four minutes in.
**Spoiler warning, skip this paragraph if you haven't seen Pirates 3.**
No, the Salt Flats were used in the first scene you see Cap'n Jack Sparrow. The Black Pearl is marooned on a huge white crystally expanse that is Davey Jones' locker. You know, where he licks the rock, throws it and they all become little crabs....
Actually, we seem to have several 'alien-type' landscapes available here in Utah. The rocky planet where the team of Galaxy Quest has their run in with Gorignak (the rock monster) is actually a place in Southern Utah called Goblin Valley...
** Back to our regularly scheduled silly comments **
Naw.. they wouldn't use the Salt Flats for a snow scape. We get all sorts of good snow in the winter months. Our license plates say 'The Greatest Snow on Earth'. It's snowing right now, in fact.

Galaxy Quest The saga continues...(a favorite movie for quotes)
I have worn the cool packs, they are o.k. for a while but after an hour or so then really need to be "recharged"

Sg's simply don't care about all that! all they seem to know is "I paid my money, I want it NOW" and, "by the way, to heck will the other guests, they don't count!" The sad part is that those attitudes are spreading to every aspect of our society.
we should reach critical mass soon...
