My middle son went to high school with a Shi thead (one word, but pronounced with a th sound). The boy was middle eastern and he did get a bunch of teasing from his classmates. (and a few teachers were flumoxed).
My favorite name (and no, I'm not making this up) was a young man my husband worked with--Lemonjello. Pronounced La mon je lo-- emphasis on the mon. He said his mom liked the way it sounded and she wasn't a good speller. My husband said the man had a wonderful sense of humor; you'd have to with that name! :D:

Got one for you. Not a persons name but an organization. I knew someone who was part of a "hobby" railroad. I had access to someone who would sandblast etch lettering onto railroad lantern globes so I had a lantern made for him. His railroad was the Smoky Hills & Indian Territory RR. So the order was for a lantern with the letters SH&IT RR. His only instructions were "dont forget the ampersand"! :D:

Well at the time the group was a bunch of steam enthusiasts in search of a railroad. So as they searched, they had regular meetings (in the local bar). I believe they had been "searching" for several years at that point. :D: But they were collecting the important equipment first. Hats with the RR logo, the proper color of red handkerchief, a proper conductors pocket watch, and finally this engraved lantern. So they were well on the way. They only lacked a train, some track and some land to drive it over. Simple. I wonder where they are in their purchasing drive in the 30+ years since I last had contact.

Oh, so how was the Roundhouse/train tour on the 18th? From what one gentleman was telling me, it was going to be a great tour.

The one I went on back in July was a blast. It was a LOT of fun getting to see how the trains work and seeing the roundhouse.

I had a Vietnamese student named "Phuc", and yeah, she wanted it pronounced like you-know-what.

Hope she doesn't marry someone with the last name of Head.

They're soon supposed to be opening a new trolley line here in Seattle called the South Lake Union Streetcar. A group of people who live in the area insist that it was originally supposed to be called the South Lake Union Trolley, so they made shirts that read "Ride the SLUT."
