WHOA! Has it been that long since I've been in merch? Hell, when I was at Star Tours a long time ago, it was $6 Adults, $5 kids.
Is it because of the new style?

I thought they were cheaper when I was down there last too... Craziness. What was the style before? They certainly arent anything special now.

Originally they were a neon yellow with Mickey on the back.
They switched over to the current, more clear version as I left merch. This was to improve the abilities to search for small children or parents should they become seperated from their parties. It has definately helped a lot.

That pretty much changed the day that Jack Falfas came a'calling. I still remember standing at the entrance to Bigfoot during the '98 El Nino season, and feeling like I was wading in a river while having to tell the guests that the ride was down (due to the lift being 101)
Agreed. It POURED when I went to Cedar Point. I was on the Dragster train waiting to launch and ended up with 1" of water in the bottom of the train O_O

I just cannot believe that the nuclear family, which brings or rents a stroller, diaper bag, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc, does not think about incliment weather, or sunscreen, or a hat.
IMO though, umbrellas should be banned.> You could put an eye out !
Not you Leftcoaster. You & wife certainly are prepared. Disney needs to hire you to teach a class to guests. ]

Ah, rainy days at Jungle Cruise are the best. For some reason, everyone is so suprised that the seats of a canvas covered boat are wet. And in their futile attempts to dry the seat, I just reply to the most OCD of all of them, in the most dry, sarcastic, Jungle Skipper way, "Oh, don't worry. This is magic Disney water; it dries up if you sit on it!"
The blank looks I get are classic.
This one lady got all ruffled that her seat was wet and she didn't have anything to dry it up with. She was complaining so loudly and we hadn't even left the dock. I finally just looked at her and said, "Ma'am, this is a water ride, were you expecting something different? If this cruise ruins your day, I apologize and I hope you find some other way to enjoy the Sunshine State!" Everyone laughed at her, even her husband. God forbid you get wet at a water ride in the bloody rain.

In it we have tickets, some extra money, ponchos, aspirin, rain jacket, hat to cover upper neck and ears, granola bars or rice krispies bars, sunscreen, a couple of pens, a sharpie marker, etc. We rarely, if ever, need to buy anything other than souvineers inside the park(s).

Great post. We buy disposable ponchos at Target for 94ยข! They can be folded and re-used the whole trip. We always look at all of the morons with $7 ponchos on and laugh!

Actually, when I worked at Knott's, there were some days when the park was closed due to rain. But I can remember two times that it was "closed for rain" early, which must've really surprised the guests, for there were clouds in the sky, but the sun was shining! Why did they close the park early (1:30 p.m.), you ask? We flunked DOSH inspection and were forced to attend a "retraining" meeting and take the recertification test. I was there from April '03 to December '05, so it was while Jack(ass) Falfas was in charge. Then last winter ('04-'05), there was a day the park SHOULD'VE been closed, but wasn't. All day torrential downpour, hardly anyone there, most rides down due to rain, and there I was, at Calico Railroad, soaked to the skin (we weren't allowed to have rainproof covers on our conductor's hats--management said it "didn't look professional"). I think I forgot my storm suit that day (good jacket, crappy pants). So for the last two hours the park was open, I and my co-workers huddled in the depot, the train crew in the locomotive, waiting for guests that never came. While we were sitting there, the engine was burning fuel for no purpose. I forget how much fuel the engineer said we wasted when I asked, but it was quite a bit. Knott's was so afraid of losing a few dollars in tourist revenue by closing the park early, but they ended up spending more by wasting train fuel--not to mention causing air pollution! Someone should crack open the heads of managment and see what's inside their skulls--I guarantee you it won't be brains. Sand? Pus? Sawdust? A vacuum? Fill in the blank?
