Me: "Um, no. It's because there's a line, and there's many people from many different races who are in that line. But I'll tell you what, as soon as I finish with the order for the family you interrupted, I'll help you now since there's plenty of churros to go around.

It was at that point that he looked at the family who's order he had interrupted and saw that they were black.

It's funny how people always try to pull that crap on you. It's almost like they go there with the direct intention of trying to get someone caught up. And it's unfortunate and unfair cause we as cast members are usually the targets.

I mean seriously, when parents try to pull the "pity" card with their autistic children ... when you refuse to put their part of 18 on a ride and they freak out and start cussing you out and keep pointing out the fact that their child is autistic... I'm sorry, it's unfortunate that your child is autistic; however, only 5 people can ride with him if you are going to use your back-door pass! Plain and simple!

So I was working at the Indiana Jones Adventure(tm) one night and we have a position called unload where you're job is to load wheel chairs into the elevator and screen for kids that may have gotten by the greeters. So we have this lady who's kid was to small and is about an obvious inch short of the height requirement. I pull her out and she wants to speak to the lead, I call the lead this isn't good enough for her so he calls the general lead (that's how long ago this was) so here we have three brown skinned CM's telling this lady that her kid can't go on. Our last names are Ramirez, Guzman and Solis respectivley. So after figureing out we wouldn't let her kid go on, she turns around and says you won't let my kid on because he's a "metzican"....sigh  :

-(At the Indy queue) And over there we have Patrick...either that or Indiana Jones has really let himself go.

I get that at the hotel I work at too. One time I got a call from someone that was trying to use a gift certificate to stay the night....only they did not have the gift certificate...

So of course, I tell them without the certificate there isn't much I can do. The person asks me my name and I tell him Alfred Muller. They then start going off on my german last name, that I'm a nazi and a racist and that I hate mexicans. On and on and on. Finally I tell the person on the phone, bring your receipt and ask for me. We can discuss this in person once you've cooled down. "OK you nazi blue eyed prick" was the reponse.

Imagine his face when dark skinned, brown eyed, tanner than most, mexican me said "I'm Alfred Muller, nice to meet you"

Needless to say, he didn't get a free night.

I hate it when people go off and start the whole "You wont let me do this because I'm (insert race here)." I think it sort of makes them sound selfish, because they think they are automatically allowed to have things given to them, just because of their race.

I still remember the day that I managed to visit Knott's on Gospel Day. I have never been accused for opressing so many people I never knew before in my life...

RIP Bud Hurlbut.

You will be missed.

On a day off I was walking around Epcot wth a cp friend. At the UK Pavillion he stepped inside one of the phone booths to see if it was real. He found a card next to the phone so he picked it up. Turns out it was a business card for a white supremacist group.......

Damn it should have been one of our cards you found! :sgt:

It's one thing when it comes from the guests, this whole site is dedicated to the fact that they're not all playing with a full deck. My accusation came from fellow CM's and it still hurts when I remember, even though it's been a little over a year ago now.

None of the full timers in the All Star Music Food Court seemed interested in running our "Magical Moment" (a.k.a Chef of the Day.) So, I established a bit of a system and turned it into a quasi-coveted job among the other CP's, but most of the full timers would refuse to play even when specifically invited. :(

At a specific time each day I'd snag someone (usually another CP) and we'd wander the dining area in search of a younger child who we'd then present with an official Chef's hat, a Magical Moment Certificate, and a brownie shaped like Mickey which the child would then decorate to the applause and cheers of everyone within ear shot. :bouncemic

I made it a point to choose both girls and boys, although we did tend to look for only children (or at least one young one with older siblings who wouldn't feel left out.) On the dining area walk through we'd speculate on the viability of the various children, and I will admit, when it was myself and another CP, we did tend to favor the families who were speaking english. (I would like to point out, however that when I could get a spanish speaking CM to join me we did do Chef of the Day in Spanish, we even did it in Japanese, twice!)

Things went along swimmingly for several months 'till one day I was pulled aside by one of the managers. Apparently a group of the Full Time CM's had complained to the management that I was being racist and on purpose not choosing Hispanic kids for Chef of the Day! And these were the same CM's that refused to either help prepare the brownie and toppings or come along to cheer for whatever child had been chosen!

The managment then decided that, in the interest of appeasing the Complainers, it would be best to allow them to take over my carefuly crafted Magical Moment and run it into the ground 'till they all lost interest again almost a month and a half later.

Even though I ended up being assigned Chef of the Day again 'till the Fall Program ended.... After that, most of the "magic" had been rubbed off the Magical Moment for me. :(

"How much are the mugs? Well the 13 large signs at eye level all say the mugs are $12.99.. so I'm gonna go with that."

I think it's just sad and wrong that they would do that to you. You were doing a great thing and I think that the "Full Timers" had no business messing with that...who cares who you give it to...it's not a politcal issue, its magic. I know that when I make my magical memories at Disneyland I don't look at the race of the guests. I look for families that range from 4-6 people in their party with lots of smaller children. We aren't trained to recognize RACE as a magical memory indicator. I mean, come on, did they have a piece of paper back stage keeping tabs on the race of the children you chose? Forget that, it's not important. For them to be that petty, and for Management to humor THEM. That is jacked up!

I'll willingly admit it to anyone who asks -- guests or management: I discriminate in selecting families for Magical Moments. :dropmouth

When I think I've spotted a suitable family, I start by asking them a question -- in English -- that cannot be answered with a yes or no. If I don't get an answer I can understad, they're out and I ask somebody else.

Yes, I'm a bit embarrased that I only speak one language fluently enough to do the MM. You'd think that 30 years in metro L.A. I would have picked up some Spanish that could be repeated in mixed company, but no. I took two years of classes in it a decade ago, and while I'm now able to speak well enough to give simple directions, I've never been able to *listen* fast enough.

So yeah, I discriminate -- based on having a common language with the guests. Cope with it, world. :whocares:
