Ashamed to Say My BFF is a Stupid Guest

Post by idratherbeinwdw » Fri Dec 11, 2009 2:28 pm

First let me say that my friend really is a super pal to me. She's there for me anytime I need someone to talk to, and is always patient and kind to me. She is also very generous, and as a birthday gift, she treated me to a trip to DLR. We flew business class (a treat in itself, I couldn't afford to do that), we stayed in a suite at the GC. She treated me to dinner at Blue Bayou and Napa Rose. So I have to admit I was too grateful for her generosity, and I said nothing when she did the following:

We were near the hub, and decided to buy snacks from a cart in the area. I bought a very tasty oatmeal raisin cookie, friend got a chocolate croissant. So. She takes a bite, then shows it to me and says in a VERY LOUD voice "LOOK AT THIS! THERE'S HARDLY ANY CHOCOLATE IN HERE, IT'S TERRIBLE!". It seemed to me she wanted to be heard by others/make a scene, because she was extremely loud. So the CM manning the cart said (quite kindly) "Is there something wrong?" Friend snapped at the CM, repeating her complaint about the croissant not having enough chocolate. CM asked if she wanted a refund, or wanted something else. Friend shook her head, forcefully threw the pastry in the trash, and shouted at CM "NEVER MIND!". And walked off in a huff.

I swear, as she left, I made sure to stay a decent distance behind her so no one would think we were together.

I apologize for her idiocy. :(

Let's give her the benefit of the doubt, in consideration of all the other nice qualities you mentioned about her, and assume she was just having a bad day. However, you were probably right to lag behind her so as not to be associated with her until out of view of the CM who was the target of her little tantrum.
Now, if she does something like that again, please tell her she's being an SG and she needs to knock it off or you'll file an official report with SGT and we'll all make fun of her.

When my sister and I were at the DLH, we did buy some bakery goods at DTD. We got sugar cookies with frosting and I also got a peppermint cupcake with mint frosting. The cookies tasted like there was no sugar added, we ended tossing those in the trash. We though ate the cupcake.

I have had one of those chocolate pasteries. I believe they are made out of biter sweet chocolate and it is not filled very well either. If you do microwave them, the chocolate does spread evenly inside.

Don't feel bad. Its not your fault.

At least the CM was professional and polite.

wow! whenever we get a treat at DLR like that we usually find that they are a little too sweet. We usually need something to drink to "cut" the sweetness.

I wonder if they have changed the recipie on some of the goodies there?

On Main Street, The Market House and the Emporium sell recipe books from the park chefs and they have 2 books. It is the recipes from vertain areas of the parks. I want to go back and get both books. When I was at the Grand Floridian, we ended up eating out there almost every day and night and loved the cucumber salad. When I go back in a few years, I will be eating there more often then other parks. :)

good idea. When we first ate at the Kona cafe, we came to like pretty much everything there! DW got a Disney cookbook the next christmas and we did successfully duplicate some of them.

Mmmmmm!

Aha, that's what I can get my Mom for Christmas! Even though she has a list of things she wants it doesn't really help. Any suggestions on good Disney cookbooks?
